The Legally Blonde prequel series is coming soon and we already know that a season two will happen!

Prime Video just announced that Elle will debut on July 1, 2026 and a second season has been ordered by the streaming service.

Lexi Minetree steps into the role of Elle Woods, originally played by Reese Witherspoon in the film franchise. She returns as an executive producer of the series.

In a new statement, Reese said, “Twenty-five years after the world met Elle Woods for the first time, it’s a dream come true to share the story of how she became the unstoppable force we all fell in love with. Discovering Lexi Minetree and watching her step into Elle’s fabulous shoes has been one of the most gratifying experiences of my career. I think our series’ themes of kindness, authenticity, and believing in yourself will resonate deeply with fans of the original films and new audiences alike. Working with our incredible Hello Sunshine team, Amazon and our visionary writers and directors to bring Elle’s high school journey to life has been a tremendous joy. I can’t wait to share season one with the world and start rolling cameras on season two.”

In Season One, Elle follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first Legally Blonde film.

Elle star Lexi Minetree is taking inspiration from Reese Witherspoon.

The 24-year-old actress is playing the titular role in the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series from Prime Video. She recently discussed how Reese, who was the OG Elle Woods, was a positive influence on her when she was figuring out how to play the character.

“There is not a better character that I could be playing that’s healthy for my psyche to be in. An optimist who believes in herself,” she told People.

Lexi said that Reese, who is also a producer on the show, encouraged her to add her “own little sprinkles of magic” to Elle Woods.

On Thursday (May 15), the 48-year-old Dawson’s Creek actor announced that he has joined the cast of Prime Video’s upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series starring Lexi Minetree as a young Elle Woods.

A new production of Legally Blonde: The Musical is now playing in the Los Angeles area and the show has been updated to make it timely for 2025!

The beloved musical originally debuted on Broadway back in 2007 and has remained a fan-favorite of theatre audiences for the last two decades.

NYC-based actress Kathryn Brunner has played Elle Woods in multiple productions of Legally Blonde across the country and she’s reprising her performance for La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts’ production.

Grey’s Anatomy actor Michael Thomas Grant is taking on the role of Emmett!

The production updates the show by incorporating TikTok dances in scenes involving the Delta Nu sorority and changing some of the lyrics to make them more current. Paulette no longer listens to Celtic Moon on a “CD [she] bought for the store,” but instead on a “playlist [she] made for the store.”

Legally Blonde will be playing in La Mirada, Calif. through May 18. Next up at the theatre is Frozen, featuring Garrett Clayton as Hans!
