John Cena is rocking his Peacemaker costume on the red carpet!

The 49-year-old WWE star turned actor was joined by wife Shay Shariatzadeh at the premiere of the second season of his HBO Max series on Wednesday evening (August 13) held at AMC Lincoln Square Theater in New York City.

Fellow cast members in attendance included Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Frank Grillo, Sol Rodriguez, Michael Rooker, Nhut Le, David Denman, and Anissa Matlock along with creator and showrunner James Gunn.

Here’s the synopsis for the new season: “Peacemaker discovers an alternate world where life is everything he wishes it could be. But this discovery also forces him to face his traumatic past and take the future into his own hands.”

Peacemaker season two will debut Thursday, August 21st at 9pm ET/PT on HBO Max. Watch the trailer here!

John Cena hits the stage in his full Peacemaker suit at the show’s panel at 2025 Comic-Con held at San Diego Convention Center on Saturday (July 26) in San Diego, Calif.

The 48-year-old star of the DC series was joined at the panel by co-stars Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Steve Agee, Frank Grillo, Tim Meadows and Sol Rodriguez, as well as writer and creator James Gunn.

At the Comic-Con panel, the season two trailer was revealed, as well as new details about what’s to come on the HBO Max series!

The trailer for the new season of Peacemaker has been released!

On Friday (May 9), MAX debuted the first trailer for the upcoming second season of the DC Comics series starring John Cena in the titular role.

Here’s the logline for season 2: “The new season follows Christopher ‘Chris’ Smith, aka Peacemaker, the vigilante Super Hero as he struggles to reconcile his past with his newfound sense of purpose while continuing to kick righteous evil-doer butt in his misguided quest for peace at any cost.”

The first teaser trailer for the upcoming Peacemaker series has arrived!

The first look was unveiled during a panel held at the DC FanDome live stream event on Saturday afternoon (October 16).

HBO Max revealed during the panel that the upcoming series, starring John Cena, will debut on Thursday, January 13.

Peacemaker will explore the origins of the character that Cena first portrayed in James Gunn‘s 2021 film, The Suicide Squad – a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.

The series also stars Danielle Brooks as Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Harcourt, Steve Agee as Economos, Chukwudi Iwuji as Murn and Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith.

Gunn wrote all eight episode of Peacemaker and he also directed five of them, including the first.

Freddie Stroma is joining the DC Comics Universe!

The 34-year-old actor is set to play Vigilante aka Adrian Chase in Peacemaker, the HBO Max spinoff of the upcoming Suicide Squad movie, per TV Line.

The series will focus on the origins of John Cena‘s character from The Suicide Squad and follows Peacemaker, “a man who believes in peace at any cost — no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.”

Freddie‘s character is a New York City DA whose wife and kids are killed by mobsters, leading him to seek his own form of justice. He replaces Chris Conrad, who parted ways with the series “amicably due to creative differences” according to Deadline.

The Suicide Squad director James Gunn will write all eight episodes of the series and will also direct several episodes, including the series premiere.

The cast also includes Orange Is the New Black‘s Danielle Brooks (as Leota Adebayo), Scorpion‘s Robert Patrick (as Auggie Smith) and Kroll Show‘s Nhut Le (as Judomaster), with Steve Agee and Jennifer Holland reprising their roles as Belle Reve Penitentiary warden John Economos and ARGUS agent Emilia Harcourt.

Fans may recognize Freddie from his role in another iconic franchise!

Freddie Stroma and Joey King are starring in a CW drama pilot!

The 31-year-old UnReal actor and the 18-year-old Fargo actress will lead in the upcoming supernatural cop drama pilot, called Dead Inside.

The show will also co-star Hayley Marie Norman, and is being penned by Katie Lovejoy and directed by Michael Patrick Jann, according to Deadline.

Here’s a plot summary: after surviving an explosion that killed her hotshot detective big brother, Zach Gates (Stroma), Emmy Gates (King), an underachieving beat cop, starts seeing his ghost, flipping their sibling dynamic on its head and allowing her to truly live her life for the first time, as they work together to help crime victims both living and dead, and figure out the unfinished business keeping his spirit on Earth.
