The 2026 Oscars race continues to shift, most recently impacted by the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards.

With the British Academy announcing its winners this past weekend, the Best Picture conversation is making headlines again, and the betting odds are increasing.

Now that awards season momentum is building ahead of the Academy Awards in March, one film is pulling ahead as the projected frontrunner, while others are gaining or losing steam following the BAFTAs outcome.

If you didn’t know, Conan O’Brien will host the ceremony on Sunday (March 15) at 7 p.m. ET on ABC.

Data from Polymarket shows a clear favorite emerging, especially in light of the latest awards results.

Paul Mescal is spending his 30th birthday promoting his Oscar-nominated film Hamnet.

The actor attended a Q&A on Tuesday (February 2) with Jonathan Pryce at Picturehouse Central in London, England.

There was a very sweet moment during the panel when Jonathan gifted Paul his copy of Hamlet from Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He said he used it at RADA and for his initial rehearsals when he played Hamlet in 1980 at the Royal Court Theatre, a performance that won him an Olivier Award.

The pair shared an emotional moment afterward as Paul hugged him and shared his appreciation for his job and getting opportunities like this one.

The movie is up for eight Oscars at the upcoming Academy Awards, including for Best Picture, Best Actress for Jessie Buckley, and Best Director for Chloe Zhao.

Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley are still hard at work promoting their new movie!

The two Oscar-nominated stars attended a special screening and Q&A of their movie Hamnet on Friday evening (January 30) held at Picturehouse Central in London, England.

The event was hosted by Harris Dickinson, who will be starring alongside Paul in the upcoming The Beatles four-part movie project.

Hamnet “tells the story of William Shakespeare and his wife, Agnes, as they grieve the loss of their 11-year-old son, Hamnet. The film follows the couple as they attempt to reconcile with the loss of their child, and how William Shakespeare began to write his beloved classic, Hamlet.”

Gracie Abrams and Paul Mescal keep their relationship very private, but she decided to publicly rave about his work in the new movie Hamnet!

The 26-year-old “That’s So True” singer took to her Instagram Stories on Friday (January 16) to share some photos from the set of the movie, as well as her thoughts on the film.

Paul is expected to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as William Shakespeare.

“Okay so,” Gracie began her series of posts on the story, beginning with a photo of Paul in the woods, wearing his signature short shorts.

Jessie Buckley and Joe Alwyn are still hard at work promoting their new movie!

The co-stars posed for photos together at the photocall for Hamnet on Wednesday (December 17) held at Shakespeare’s Globe Theater in London, England.

Fellow cast members in attendance included Emily Watson, Olivia Lynes, and brothers Jacobi and Noah Jupe.

Also in attendance was director Chloe Zhao and Maggie O’Farrell, who co-wrote the screenplay with Chloe.

The day before, Jessie and Chloe were joined by Hamnet star Paul Mescal at a new photography exhibition for the movie.
