We are getting an update on what’s happening with Sony’s live-action Spider-Man universe!

The production studio has churned out several Spider-Man movies in the past, along with quite a few movies about Spider-Man villains, including the Venom trilogy, Madame Web, Morbius and Kraven the Hunter.

While the films haven’t been performing that well at the box office over the past few years, a Sony executive is speaking out about what’s happening with the Spider-Verse, and if more movies are coming.

During an appearance on The Town podcast, Sony CEO Tom Rothman confirmed the Spider-Verse is not dead and they will make more movies at some point. He also confirmed that the universe will be a “fresh reboot” with “new people.”

“To your question about Spider-Man: Scarcity has value,” Tom said later in the episode. “You’ve got to make the audience miss you. It’s the old thing. I always had trouble getting girls to go out with me twice, but until fortunately, my wife took pity on me, but absence makes the heart grow fonder.”

The next Spider-Man movie, a collaboration between Sony and Disney’s Marvel Studios, wrapped filming back in December and will hit theaters this summer, on July 31st!

Nicolas Cage is also starring in a new Spider-Man TV series, Spider-Noir, which will debut on Prime Video and MGM+ on May 27th. Watch the teasers here!

The film is based on a romance short story by Claire Keegan and Netflix has reportedly boarded the project alongside Element Pictures, Ledbury Productions, and Compelling Pictures. The cast also includes Tom Cullen and Ciarán Hinds.

Deadline says Brooklyn‘s John Crowley will direct the movie in Ireland, with the script written by Tony-nominated Conor McPherson.

“Walk the Blue Fields follows a woman on her wedding day being confronted with a heart-wrenching decision as a love triangle from her past threatens to be revealed,” the outlet shares.

Brad Pitt was seen arriving to set in a pair of plaid pants on Monday (February 23) in Hydra, Greece.

The 62-year-old actor dressed stylishly while heading in to work on his upcoming new movie The Riders, where he was spotted in two different costumes on set that day.

This is the first time Brad has been seen on set of the Edward Berger-directed movie, which is based on the Tim Winton novel of the same name.

According to Deadline, filming on the pic began earlier this month and is being shot at multiple locations in Europe.

The Riders “follows Scully, an Australian man who traverses Europe, alongside his young daughter Billie, in search of the wife that abandoned them.”

Also starring in the movie include Julianne Nicholson, Coco Greenstone, Michael Smiley, Danny Huston, Camille Cottin and Ulrich Thomsen.

Just a few days before, Brad was seen arriving in Greece with girlfriend Ines de Ramon.

Camila Mendes steps out in style while filming for her upcoming movie Viva La Madness on Sunday (February 22) in London.

The 31-year-old actress could be seen filming with several men who appear to be henchmen, while wearing an off-white trench coat and knee-high snakeskin heels and a pair of dark sunglasses.

Also spotted on set filming separate scenes were lead actor Jason Statham, who filmed solo and with Vinnie Jones and Babs Olusanmokun.

The upcoming movie will be directed by Guy Ritchie, who co-wrote the screenplay with JJ Connolly, whose novel of the same name the movie is based on.

While the “Viva La Madness” book is a sequel to “Layer Cake,” the upcoming movie will not be a continuation of the 2004 film adaptation of the latter book, and will serve as a standalone, original film.

Also among the cast of Viva La Madness include Jason Isaacs, Ben Foster, Jonny Lee Miller and singer Rauw Alejandro in his feature film debut.

In a newly released magazine interview, Alexander dished on what excited him about the movie and depicting the sub-dom/kink subcultures on screen.

“Often the sub-dom or kink subcultures are depicted in a very dark, scary way. Cruising [William Friedkin’s 1980 crime thriller, starring Al Pacino as an undercover cop tracking down a serial killer] is a good example, where it’s like this dangerous underbelly of society,” he tells AnOther mag. “Like you’re supposed to be intimidated. What I loved about this film was that it wasn’t that, but it also didn’t dip into the sentimentality of the violins playing, a new love for a second and now I’m sad, staring out the window.”

“It felt irreverent and fun and charming and I really cared about these guys, this couple. It’s so rare to read something wholly original where I’m like, ‘I haven’t seen this depiction of any subculture before,’” he continued. “I thought Harry [Lighton] had beautifully approached this subject matter with curiosity and respect, but not too much respect, because if you do it with too much respect it’s a veneer, it’s a Disneyfied version – ‘Look how great they are.’ I love that he wanted to show this world, let it be awkward and stumbly and weird and funny at times.”

Alexander also added what excited him about taking on this project.

“I was excited about Pillion when I read it because it felt very truthful and authentic to the subculture, but also very accessible to people who are not in that subculture,” he said. “And the fact that Harry [Lighton] didn’t sugar-coat it – ‘Look how amazing they are. They’re just like us.’ He allowed it to be awkward and weird, and that excited me.”

“What I think you see at the end of the second one, and across the third one, is yourself in Interstellar and Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight and Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now and stuff like that,” Timothee said, via Variety, before backtracking some. “Actually, wait, let me rephrase all of that! Hold up. I cannot put myself in that same boat. Let’s just say, it’s these big movies where you could sneak in something. A curveball.”

“Especially on this third one, all the great sh-t you see on screen is from freedom of movement and freedom of choice,” he teased. “And with Denis [Villaneuve], we really had a good rhythm. It’s the eeriest one. It’s a big swing.”

Timothee also talked about the sci-fi technology on the upcoming third installment.

“On the first Dune, we had an ornithopter sequence that I got a chance to do again in the third, but this time I was way more geared up,” he shared. “On Dune 3, as opposed to the first movie, I came out early and studied the control panel — all sorts of hieroglyphics and things that aren’t tethered to reality. I wanted to know what each button did, and invent a dynamic for myself with it.”

“I didn’t want to be complacent about a single moment. Everything was sacred, and it was my last time doing a Dune film, so I really wanted to treat it as sacred,” Timothee said filming. “Because people can get complacent, but I was more intense on the third one. It felt like that was the natural momentum, so I wanted to push against that as hard as I could.”

Disney just dropped the first look teaser for the upcoming Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, and we’ve got the latest updates on which stars are returning, and who’s not.

The next installment explores what ‘happily ever after’ really means for Red and Chloe following their time-traveling adventures in Descendants: The Rise of Red.

It is set “primarily in present-day Wonderland with a host of new and familiar characters, this movie delves into the warning from the previous movie: There are consequences when you alter the fabric of time.”

The movie musical will be released later this summer on Disney Plus and Disney Channel. An exact date will be announced at a later time.

In addition to the dismal critics score, the movie has a 35% score from audiences at the moment.

Eric will next be seen in the upcoming third and final season of Euphoria, reprising his role as Cal Jacobs, the father to Jacob Elordi‘s Nate Jacobs. The capacity to which he appears is currently unknown, but since there is a wedding between Nate and Sydney Sweeney‘s Cassie, we can assume that Eric’s character will appear at his son’s nuptials.

Series creator Sam Levinson has also released a statement mourning Eric‘s death.

Georgina Campbell and James Preston Rogers hit the red carpet together at the west coast premiere on Wednesday night (February 18) at the Aero Theater in Los Angeles.

The event, which was in partnership with Beyond Fest and the American Cinematheque, featured an in-character appearance from the film’s sadistic serial killer.

Here’s a synopsis: The Gates follows three college students — Derek, Kevin, and Tyon on a road trip gone wrong, as the three young men take an ill-advised shortcut through a remote gated community, where they find themselves trapped behind the walls after witnessing a murder. Over the course of the night, they find themselves blamed, hunted, and fractured by their own differing belief systems, while the perpetrator—James Van Der Beek, at his most charming and terrifying—emerges as the cunning patriarch that holds the entire community under his influence.

Also starring in the movie are Mason Gooding, Algee Smith and Keith Powers as the three college students.

The Gates is set to debut in theaters on March 13th.
