The cast of the beloved movie Little Miss Sunshine is back together!

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, cast members Greg Kinnear, Toni Collette, Paul Dano, and Alan Arkin stepped out for a screening at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival on Wednesday (January 28) in Park City, Utah.

Little Miss Sunshine debuted at the 2006 festival and was sold the next day to Fox Searchlight Pictures for $10.5 million, which at the time, was one of the biggest deals ever made at the festival. The movie went on to gross $100 million worldwide at the box office and was nominated for 4 Oscars, including wins for Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for the late Alan Arkin.

Arkin, who played the grandfather, died in June 2023 at the age of 89.

At the reunion event, Paul broke his silence after director Quentin Tarantino slammed his acting abilities.

The royals stepped out in a surprise appearance for the premiere and celebration of the new documentary Cookie Queens, which they serve as executive producers on. They were also seen posing with with the doc’s director Alysa Nahmias and festival director Eugene Hernandez.

Cookie Queens follows four Girl Scouts – Ara, Olive, Nikki, and Shannon Elizabeth – “through a cookie-selling season, highlighting the girls’ charm and unsuspecting sharp business instincts. Olivia Wilde is joining the masses in protesting ICE while appearing at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival on Saturday (January 24) in Park City, Utah.

The 41-year-old actress and director wore an “ICE Out” pin on her dress as she attended the premiere of her new movie The Invite alongside co-stars Edward Norton (with wife Shauna Robertson) and Seth Rogen at the Eccles Center Theater.

Also in attendance was co-writer Will McCormack, with his longtime partner Emily Arlook.

On the carpet, Olivia spoke out about the devastating killing of Alex Pretti by ICE in Minneappolis that morning.

“We’re all here getting to celebrate something really beautiful and hopeful in film storytelling,” she told Variety. “But the world is hurting right now, and this country is hurting. And it’s appalling.”

“I’m appalled and sickened,” Olivia added. “We can’t go another day just sort of accepting this as our new norm. It’s outrageous. People are being murdered. And, I don’t want to normalize seeing people being murdered on the internet. On film. It’s. It’s hideous. And so if we can do anything out here to support the movement to cast ICE out, to delegitimize this unbelievably criminal organization, then that’s what we should be doing.”

She also added that it was inspiring to see people out protesting the Trump administration’s deployment of ICE.

“I think so many Americans are [speaking out]. I mean, you see the marches happening around the country,” Olivia said. “Americans are speaking up in huge numbers, and it’s dangerous to be a protester now and people are still going out to the streets, which is incredibly inspiring.”

Natalia Portman also spoke out condemning the actions of ICE at Sundance this weekend.

After the screening of The Invite, Olivia, who stars in and directed the movie, took to the stage for a closing Q&A and received a standing ovation, which brought her to tears, per Variety.

Maxwell Frost is speaking out after being the subject of an assault while attending a 2026 Sundance Film Festival party this weekend.

The 29-year-old Florida congressman was attending an event when a man approached him with racist remarks and punched him in the face.

There were reports that a racially charged assault took place at CAA’s party before Maxwell came forward, revealing it was him who was attacked.

“Last night, I was assaulted by a man at Sundance Festival who told me that Trump was going to deport me before he punched me in the face. He was heard screaming racist remarks as he drunkenly ran off. The individual was arrested and I am okay,” he shared on Twitter/X. “Thank you to the venue security and Park City PD for assistance on this incident.”

Per THR, the suspect snuck into the party at High West Saloon in Park City, Utah, and around midnight, he went into the restroom and began to cause a disturbance.

According to reports, the man stated how he was proud to be “white” and after leaving the restroom, punched a person of color in the face, who has now been identified as the congressman.

Security was quick to intervene before police arrived, and the man was arrested.

“I’m just trying to go back and harness a little bit more of the fun from the original films, which is what I remember [from] them,” he told Variety.

“The stakes are very high, and there’s serious things going on, but there’s also a lot of fun to be had in those films. That’s what I was trying to bring back,” Taika added. “I was trying to work in a world that was a little bit separate to that because they’ve got so many things going on within that space. For me to do something there, it would need to be a little different and a little bit more its own thing.”

Just last week, Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy told Deadline that Taika‘s movie was “still somewhat alive,” and she confirmed he “turned in a script that I think is hilarious and great.”

It was first revealed he was approached to develop a movie in the franchise in January 2020 and a few months later, he was confirmed to write and direct a film.

The last update we had on his Star Wars project was by now former Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy in 2023.

Chris Pine and Jenny Slate are kicking off the 2026 Sundance Film Festival with their movie Carousel!

The co-stars hit the red carpet at the premiere on Thursday night (January 22) at the Eccles Center Theater in Park City, Utah.

They were joined at the event by co-star Abby Ryder Fortson, who plays Chris‘ daughter in the movie, and writer-director Rachel Lambert.

In an interview with AP, Chris opened up about working with Jenny.

“We just had an immediate affinity for one another,” he said. “Jenny is so smart, and I’m sort of a lover of smart people, so immediately she had me. And she likes to laugh and she makes me giggle. So we just had a really, really easy time getting to know one another.”

Here’s the movie’s synopsis: “Noah’s settled life caring for his anxious daughter and medical practice is disrupted when his high school ex Rebecca returns. Their old spark remains, making them question if love deserves another chance.”

Ayo Edebiri is starring in the new A24 horror film Opus alongside John Malkovich and the film opened at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival to mixed reviews.

The actors hit the red carpet at the premiere event on Monday night (January 27) at the Eccles Center Theatre in Park City, Utah.

Ayo and John were joined by co-stars Juliette Lewis, Murray Bartlett, Stephanie Suganami, and Tatanka Means, as well as writer and director Mark Anthony Green.

Here is the synopsis: “A young writer (Edebiri) is invited to the remote compound of a legendary pop star (Malkovich) who mysteriously disappeared thirty years ago. Surrounded by the star’s cult of sycophants and intoxicated journalists, she finds herself in the middle of his twisted plan.”

Opus currently has a 33% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The Hollywood Reporter noted, “Despite solid performances from Edebiri and Malkovich, Opus never takes off. It mostly meanders, relying on leaden expository monologues to move the plot, and rarely delivers on the promised horror of its atmosphere.”

The actors were joined by co-stars Han Gi-chan, Youn Yuh-jung, Joan Chen, Bobo Le and director Andrew Ahn at the film’s Sundance premiere on Monday night (January 27) in Park City, Utah.

The Wedding Banquet is a joyful comedy of errors about a chosen family navigating the disasters and delights of family expectations, queerness, and cultural identity. Angela (Tran) and her partner Lee (Lily Gladstone) have been unlucky with their IVF treatments, but can’t afford to pay for another round. Meanwhile their friend Min (Han), the closeted scion of a multinational corporate empire, has plenty of family money but a soon-to-expire student visa. When his commitment-phobic boyfriend Chris (Yang) rejects his proposal, Min makes the offer to Angela instead: a green card marriage in exchange for funding Lee’s IVF. Speaking to Variety, Alia confirmed that she is the one who helped get Channing to agree to the role.

“Chan has been an amazing friend,” she gushed. “We emailed him and asked him to come do it. He responded — but he didn’t respond right away — and said, ‘I’m in, what’s the date?’”

Jesse Williams is opening up about a potential return to Broadway after his Tony-nominated run in the play Take Me Out.

The 43-year-old actor chatted about Broadway while appearing at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival on Friday (January 24) in Park City, Utah.

Jesse stopped by the Variety studio that day and he also attended the premiere of Hoops, Hopes & Dreams the day before during the Shorts Programs 1.

While chatting with Variety, Jesse said, “It was the transformative part of my life. I loved doing Take Me Out and I loved being on Broadway and part of that community. I think about the play every day and I think about the experience every day. A couple offers have come in for things. I haven’t quite found… When I find the right thing I’ll trust that feeling, listen to it, and be happy to be back on the boards.”

“I loved everything about that experience. Well, not everything. It was incredibly difficult. But, yes, very positive experience that I’d be happy to return to,” Jesse said.
