We are getting an update on what’s happening with Sony’s live-action Spider-Man universe!

The production studio has churned out several Spider-Man movies in the past, along with quite a few movies about Spider-Man villains, including the Venom trilogy, Madame Web, Morbius and Kraven the Hunter.

While the films haven’t been performing that well at the box office over the past few years, a Sony executive is speaking out about what’s happening with the Spider-Verse, and if more movies are coming.

During an appearance on The Town podcast, Sony CEO Tom Rothman confirmed the Spider-Verse is not dead and they will make more movies at some point. He also confirmed that the universe will be a “fresh reboot” with “new people.”

“To your question about Spider-Man: Scarcity has value,” Tom said later in the episode. “You’ve got to make the audience miss you. It’s the old thing. I always had trouble getting girls to go out with me twice, but until fortunately, my wife took pity on me, but absence makes the heart grow fonder.”

The next Spider-Man movie, a collaboration between Sony and Disney’s Marvel Studios, wrapped filming back in December and will hit theaters this summer, on July 31st!

Nicolas Cage is also starring in a new Spider-Man TV series, Spider-Noir, which will debut on Prime Video and MGM+ on May 27th. Watch the teasers here!

There has been no official promo material for the upcoming Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

However, recently, there has been a blurb circulating the Internet that has been labeled a “synopsis” of the film by some fans!

You may be wondering where that came from. Well, a book listing for Penguin Random House’s “The Art of the Movie” has a blurb attached. The book won’t be released until August 4, 2026.

Tom Holland will return to his role as the web-slinging hero for his fourth solo film, a first for the Marvel superhero.

“I found out while we were wrapping up season five [of Stranger Things]. Spider-Man has always been my favorite. I love Spider-Man. I love Tom’s Spider-Man, especially,” she told THR. “To be a fan of something and then join it is a familiar feeling for me, because I was a fan of Stranger Things before I joined the show, but I was super excited about what they had planned.”

“I also worked with the director, Destin Daniel Cretton, in one of the first movies [The Glass Castle] I ever did when I was 14, so it’s kind of a full-circle moment. I had an amazing time working on that film,” Sadie said.

On keeping the movie’s secrets, she likened it to her many years on Stranger Things.

While reading a fan submitted question on Watch What Happens Live! on Monday (December 22), host Andy Cohen asked, “Did you really turn down the of Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man, and do you regret it?”

“You know, it’s so funny. When people say things, it doesn’t feel good to talk about it because the people who are in the movie are the right people,” Kate responded. “And your circumstances in life happen the way they happen, but yes, I did. Now that I look back, it’s one of those things where I’m like, ‘That would have been nice to be in the Spider-Man movie.’”

“But at the same time, I did a movie called [The] Four Feathers. I got to meet Heath Ledger, who became a very good friend, and I got an experience that I would have never had,” she added. “So, part of me is like, life happens exactly the way it’s supposed to, and so I’m grateful for it.”

“But I do look at that and I’m like, ‘Aww. It would have been fun to be her,’” she said.

When Andy pointed out it also wasn’t just one movie but three, Kate said, “I know, I know!”
