The 2026 BAFTA Film Awards are happening now!
The 79th British Academy Film Awards take place Sunday (February 22), celebrating the best national and foreign films of 2025, at the Royal Festival Hall in Southbank Centre in London, England.
The awards ceremony honors the best feature-length films and documentaries of any nationality that were screened at British cinemas in 2025, and are being hosted by Alan Cumming for the first time.
E! will air the ceremony for the first time as a pre-recorded special, starting at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Paul Mescal is spending his 30th birthday promoting his Oscar-nominated film Hamnet.
The actor attended a Q&A on Tuesday (February 2) with Jonathan Pryce at Picturehouse Central in London, England.
There was a very sweet moment during the panel when Jonathan gifted Paul his copy of Hamlet from Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He said he used it at RADA and for his initial rehearsals when he played Hamlet in 1980 at the Royal Court Theatre, a performance that won him an Olivier Award.
The pair shared an emotional moment afterward as Paul hugged him and shared his appreciation for his job and getting opportunities like this one.

The movie is up for eight Oscars at the upcoming Academy Awards, including for Best Picture, Best Actress for Jessie Buckley, and Best Director for Chloe Zhao.

Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley are still hard at work promoting their new movie!
The two Oscar-nominated stars attended a special screening and Q&A of their movie Hamnet on Friday evening (January 30) held at Picturehouse Central in London, England.
The event was hosted by Harris Dickinson, who will be starring alongside Paul in the upcoming The Beatles four-part movie project.
Hamnet “tells the story of William Shakespeare and his wife, Agnes, as they grieve the loss of their 11-year-old son, Hamnet. The film follows the couple as they attempt to reconcile with the loss of their child, and how William Shakespeare began to write his beloved classic, Hamlet.”

The Beatles, a four-film cinematic event, is coming!
The four movie series is set to hit theaters in April of 2028, and we finally have a first look at the stars in character as the members of the iconic band.
In the film, Paul Mescal is Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan is Ringo Starr, Joseph Quinn is George Harrison, and Harris Dickinson is John Lennon.
Director Sam Mendes, who is helming all four films and producing, revealed more casting for the forthcoming movies.
The films mark the first time Apple Corps Ltd. and The Beatles have granted full life story and music rights for a scripted film.
Each film is told from each band member’s distinct point of view, and will “intersect to tell the astonishing story of the greatest band in history,” per Sony Pictures. Find out who else will star in the movie.

The 2026 Oscar nominations were released today and Jessie Buckley was nominated for her extraordinary work in Hamnet.
The 36-year-old actress told THR of the nomination, “My baby’s screaming in the background, but I am thrilled. (Laughs.) I’m so proud and honored to be beside all those extraordinary women and to be there with Hamnet. I’m delighted.”
However, her co-star Paul Mescal was snubbed from the nominations list. She also reacted to this news.
