'Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping' Trailer: First Look at Young Haymitch, Elle Fanning's Effie Trinket, & More!

We have our first look at the Hunger Games prequel film, Sunrise on the Reaping!

The film will revisit the world of Panem 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. The movie follows a young Haymitch Abernathy (Joseph Zada), in a role made famous by Woody Harrelson. Gossip Girl‘s Whitney Peak plays his love interest, Lenore Dove Baird. If you don’t know, Haymitch ends up winning the games.

Elle Fanning portrays young Effie Trinket, Ralph Fiennes plays younger President Coriolanus Snow, Kieran Culkin plays young Caesar Flickerman, Jesse Plemons plays young Plutarch Heavensbee, and more. The film also stars Kelvin Harrison Jr., Glenn Close, Maya Hawke, Mckenna Grace, and Billy Porter.

The film hits theaters one year from today on November 20, 2026.

'28 Years Later: The Bone Temple' Trailer Puts Jack O'Connell's Creepy Cult Leader in the Forefront

The highly-anticipated sequel to 28 Years Later is less than six months away!

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple will be released exclusively in theaters on January 16, 2026.

The sequel continues the story started by the 2025 film, following characters like Dr. Ian Kelson (Ralph Fiennes), Spike (Alfie Williams), and cult leader Sir Jimmy Crystal (Jack O’Connell). The trailer also provides a first look at a new character played by Erin Kellyman. Original 28 Days Later star Cillian Murphy is expected to reprise his role for the film.

Here’s the plot summary, as shared by Sony Pictures: “Expanding upon the world created by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland in 28 Years Later – but turning that world on its head – Nia DaCosta directs 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. In a continuation of the epic story, Dr. Kelson (Fiennes) finds himself in a shocking new relationship – with consequences that could change the world as they know it – and Spike’s (Williams) encounter with Jimmy Crystal (O’Connell) becomes a nightmare he can’t escape. In the world of The Bone Temple, the infected are no longer the greatest threat to survival – the inhumanity of the survivors can be stranger and more terrifying.”

The sequel has not yet been rated. A third film to complete the new trilogy is also in development.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is on the way, and cast list only keeps growing.

The fifth book in the Hunger Games series, which was released back in March, is currently being made into a movie that is set to hit theaters on November 20, 2026, with Francis Lawrence returning to direct.

Suzanne Collins‘ newest book follows a young Haymitch Abernathy (originally played by Woody Harrelson in the film franchise) and his journey in the Fiftieth Annual Hunger Games.

Billy Ray, who penned the original 2012 film’s screenplay, returns to write the screenplay for the next installment, and a bunch of big names have already been confirmed on the cast.
