A high school student in Alabama was rushed to the hospital after being rescued from the wreckage of their “demolished” car.

On Friday (February 6), the 17-year-old student from Flomaton High School was involved in a single-vehicle crash around 1:51 p.m. on U.S. Highway 31 in Escambia County, according to a statement provided to Just Jared by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

While driving, the teen “left the roadway and struck a tree” in their 2007 Pontiac Torrent, the statement read.

Authorities are still investigating the crash, which the local fire chief described as possibly “the worst motor vehicle crash I’ve seen in my 40 years.”

Lots of celebrities stepped out to take part in the CMT Giants: Alabama tribute on Wednesday (January 17) at The Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in Nashville, Tennessee.

The two-hour TV special will pay homage to legendary country group Alabama and is set to premiere later this year.

The star-studded event featured appearances from solo acts and bands alike, including Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean and wife Brittany, and Phillip Sweet, Kimberly Schlapman, Karen Fairchild, and Jimi Westbrook of Little Big Town.

Legendary country musician Jeff Cook has sadly passed away.

The famed guitarist was a co-founding member of country band Alabama, alongside his cousins, Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry.

A rep for the band confirmed that Jeff passed away at the age of 73, at his vacation home in Destin, Florida, after an extended battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Jeff Cook, the guitarist and fiddle player for the country group Alabama, has revealed that he is battling Parkinson’s disease.

The 67-year-old musician was diagnosed four years ago and while his bandmates have known, he is letting his fans know now as he will step back from touring at the end of the month.

“This disease robs you of your coordination, your balance, and causes tremors,” Cook told the USA Today Network in a prepared statement. “For me, this has made it extremely frustrating to try and play guitar, fiddle or sing. I’ve tried not to burden anyone with the details of my condition because I do not want the music to stop or the party to end, and that won’t change no matter what. Let me say, I’m not calling it quits but sometimes our bodies dictate what we have to do, and mine is telling me it’s time to take a break and heal.”

Jeff will stop touring with Alabama on a regular basis starting on April 29. He is set to play the group’s May 27 concert and an additional fan event.
