“Defying Gravity” is officially a Grammy-winning song!

In a big surprise, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande picked up the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 1) at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

The song was nominated against “Golden” from K-Pop Demon Hunters, “Gabriela” by KATSEYE, “APT.” by Bruno Mars & Rose, and “30 for 30″ by SZA and Kendrick Lamar.

Neither Ariana or Cynthia were in attendance at the Premiere Ceremony pre-show to accept the award.

The Wicked soundtrack was also nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, but lost to Sinners.

Back in 2005, the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Wicked won the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. Back then, performers weren’t eligible for the award, so Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel didn’t get an award. The Grammys began honoring the performers on Broadway albums in 2012.

Ariana Grande is speaking out in response to Cynthia Erivo being snubbed by SAG’s Actor Awards for her performance in Wicked: For Good.

The 32-year-old actress, who is pictured here attending the 2026 AFI Awards on Friday (January 9) in Los Angeles, spoke out in a new interview with Variety.

Ariana reacted to both Cynthia‘s snub from SAG and director Jon M. Chu‘s snub from DGA.

Ariana Grande is throwing it back to the early days of rehearsing for Wicked: For Good.

On Wednesday (January 7), the 32-year-old Glinda actress and pop star took to social media to share a video of herself in music rehearsals all the way back in 2022.

In the clip, she worked her way through her song “Thank Goodness,” which she performs alongside Jonathan Bailey and Michelle Yeoh in the movie.

Ariana Grande wrote a touching and heartfelt letter of appreciation to the American Critics Choice Association (CCA) ahead of the 2026 Critics’ Choice Awards ceremony.

The “Thank U, Next” singer was nominated for her performance as Galinda “Glinda” Upland in Wicked: For Good. The film received seven nominations in total.

A member of the CCA shared her letter on X/Twitter at the end of December 2025. Her account has since been made private, but a fan account reshared it.

The Wicked: One Wonderful Night was such a big hit back in November that NBC has decided to air it again as a New Year’s Eve special.

This NBC special marked the first, and possible only time, that the Wicked movie cast will have performed the music together in front of an audience.

NBC went all out for this special by creating elaborate sets for the Dolby Theatre stage, bringing together a 37-piece orchestra, and pulling off some incredible surprises that are sure to blow viewers away.

JustJared.com was lucky enough to be in the audience for the taping of the special on September 24 in Los Angeles and we have the full setlist from that night. The songs were not recorded in order during the live taping and audiences at the taping were lucky enough to see some numbers performed multiple times!
