Kristin Chenoweth‘s new Broadway musical The Queen of Versailles is closing earlier than expected.
The producers have announced that the musical will close at the beginning of the new year, less than two months after the official opening night.

There was a Wicked reunion at the opening night of Kristin Chenoweth‘s new show on Broadway!
Idina Menzel stepped out to support Kristin at the opening night performance of her new musical The Queen of Versailles on Sunday night (November 9) at the St. James Theatre in New York City.
Idina went backstage to meet up with Kristin immediately after the performance, before she even got out of her costume! Later in the night, Kristin went to the after party in a look designed by the show’s costume designer Christian Cowan.

The Tony and Emmy-winning actress has begun rehearsals for the brand new musical The Queen of Versailles and we have all of the photos from her first day in the rehearsal room.
Kristin was joined by co-star F. Murray Abraham, Tony-winning director Michael Arden, and Oscar-winning songwriter Stephen Schwartz, among others.
The Queen of Versailles is based on the true story of Jackie Siegel and her husband David Siegel (Abraham), who were the basis of the documentary of the same name.
From computer engineer to Mrs. Florida to billionairess, Jackie Siegel sees herself as the embodiment of the American Dream. Now, as the wife of David “The Timeshare King” Siegel and mother of their eight children, they invite us to behold their most grandiose venture yet: they’re building the largest private home in America in Orlando, Florida – a $100 million house big enough for her dreams and inspired by the Palace of Versailles. Mia Threapleton is leading her first major movie and she was joined by the star-studded cast at the NYC premiere!
The 24-year-old actress, who is the daughter of Oscar winner Kate Winslet, walked the carpet with co-star Scarlett Johansson at the premiere of The Phoenician Scheme on Wednesday (May 28) at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City.
Also in attendance were co-stars Benicio del Toro, Tom Hanks, Michael Cera, Bryan Cranston, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, and F. Murray Abraham, as well as writer and director Wes Anderson.
IMDb notes that in the new film, wealthy businessman Zsa-zsa Korda (del Toro) appoints his only daughter, a nun (Threapleton), as sole heir to his estate. As Korda embarks on a new enterprise, they soon become the target of scheming tycoons, foreign terrorists, and determined assassins.
The Phoenician Scheme will be released in limited theaters on May 30 ahead of a wider release on June 6. Watch the trailer now!

Kristin Chenoweth is officially returning to Broadway this year!
The Tony-winning actress will be teaming up with Wicked composer Stephen Schwartz again to star in his new musical The Queen of Versailles, which will open in Fall 2025 at the St. James Theatre in New York City.
Kristin previously led a record-breaking world premiere production of the musical in summer 2024 at Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre.
“I’m beyond excited to return to Broadway and also make my Broadway producing debut with this incredible company,” Kristin said in a statement. “Stephen is a once in a generation songwriter and I’m so lucky we are able to reunite for this original musical, under the direction of the iconic Michael Arden to bring Lindsey Ferrentino’s captivating story to life.”

Robert Downey Jr. is officially on Broadway and a lot of his celeb friends showed up to support him on opening night!
The Oscar-winning actor was joined by wife Susan Downey on the red carpet at the McNeal opening night performance on Monday (September 30) at Lincoln Center Theater in New York City.
Jason Bateman, Justin Theroux, Will Arnett, Paul Rudd, and Matt Damon posed for photos together while stepping out for the performance.
Also in attendance were Steven Spielberg and wife Kate Capshaw, Oscar Isaac and wife Elvira Lind, Matthew Rhys, and F. Murray Abraham, as well as Justin‘s fiancee Nicole Brydon Bloom.
Robert was joined on the carpet by his co-stars: Tony winners Andrea Martin and Ruthie Ann Miles, as well as Melora Hardin, Rafi Gavron, Brittany Bellizeare, and Saisha Talwar.
Here’s a synopsis: “Jacob McNeal (Downey Jr.) is a great writer, one of our greatest, a perpetual candidate for the Nobel Prize in Literature. But McNeal also has an estranged son, a new novel, old axes to grind and an unhealthy fascination with Artificial Intelligence.”
McNeal was written by Pulitzer Prize winner Ayad Akhtar and features direction by Bartlett Sher. The limited engagement is running through November 24 at Lincoln Center Theater. Get tickets now, while you still can!

Reviews are in and Kristin has earned raves for her performance as Jackie Siegel, the woman who built the largest private home in America and modeled it after the Palace of Versailles.
Variety said, “Chenoweth is courageous and skillful in presenting a protagonist of utter folly, who never quite fathoms where she went wrong.” Boston.com noted “Chenoweth’s Jackie Siegel deserves to immediately enter the pantheon of unstoppable Broadway musical matrons alongside Streisand’s Fanny Brice, Merman’s Mama Rose, and Lansbury’s Auntie Mame.” Theatrely wrote, “this show is fun with a capital F and Chenoweth knows how to take charge of any audience and keep them with her till the curtain drops.”
The Queen of Versailles is running in Boston through August 25.
