Freaky Friday 2 is coming out later this summer, but first, let’s look back at the first film!
The Disney body-swap comedy, released in 2003, was based on the Mary Rodgers 1972 novel of the same name and more than quadrupled it’s budget in box office earnings.
Throughout the years, there have been calls for a sequel, but the idea didn’t really pick up steam until around 2022 and the next year, Disney officially greenlit the sequel, with most of the original film’s stars reprising their roles, including leads Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan!
With the second film, titled Freakier Friday, coming out, we’re diving back into the first film and uncovering some of the behind-the-scenes secrets you may not have known.
For instance, we learned that the movie almost featured two entirely different actresses in the lead roles. Additionally, a big plot point involving Gwen Stefani was going to center the script.
Chad Michael Murry also opened up about getting cast and revealed that one of his scenes that still has his dad jealous to this day.
We even got some hints about what the sequel might look like!
