We followed the characters of One Tree Hill from high school to adulthood on the nine-season drama series, and soon, some of them will return to the world of Tree Hill for a sequel series.

Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton will executive produce a spinoff for Netflix and reprise their roles as Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer. Their characters will now be parents to teenagers.

Many of the show’s stars are actually parents in real life, too!

Since leaving Tree Hill, the fictional town in North Carolina where the hit series was based, in 2012, many of the stars have since settled down and had kids.

Fans are stoked about the One Tree Hill sequel series, and we have the latest cast updates!

The new series is expected to pick up 20 years later and center on two of the original characters, who are confirmed to return. They will deal with “love, insecurities and grief” while raising their now-teenaged children.

While original cast members are involved, creator Mark Schwahn, who was accused of sexual abuse in 2017, is not working on the project.

Amid reports about the sequel, which is still not “official,” multiple other stars have revealed if they were interested in participating. Several have also explicitly stated that they are not involved and seemingly aren’t coming back.

A big Gilmore Girls documentary is in the works, titled Searching For Stars Hollow, and several of the show’s stars will be appearing via interviews!

The series will be celebrating its 25th anniversary this fall.

So far, the lineup of stars who will be featured includes Kelly Bishop, who memorably played Emily Gilmore, Jared Padalecki, who got his start on the series playing Rory’s first boyfriend Dean, and Chad Michael Murray, who starred in the first few seasons as Rory’s prep school enemy Tristan.
