Jak Malone just won a Tony for his Broadway debut!

The 30-year-old British actor picked up a win for his work in Operation Mincemeat at the 2025 Tony Awards on Sunday (June 8) at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Jak won for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical.

During his acceptance speech, Jak talked about portraying a woman in the show.

“And if you watched our show and found yourself believing in Hester, well then I am so glad to tell you that intentionally or otherwise, you might have just bid for farewell to cynicism, to outdated ideas, to that rotten old binary and opened yourself up to a world that is already out there in glorious technicolor and isn’t going away,” Jak said.

Broadway's Biggest Stars Support Entertainment Community Fund's Gala Ahead of Tony Nominations

Some of Broadway‘s biggest stars came together on their night off to celebrate the Entertainment Community Fund, an organization previously known as the Actors Fund.

Nicole Scherzinger, Denzel Washington, and Idina Menzel were among the celebs who hit the red carpet on Monday night (April 21) at the Marriot Marquis in New York City.

Denzel was honored with the Entertainment Community Fund Medal of Honor alongside fellow Oscar winner Ariana DeBose and theater owner James L. Nederlander.

The Entertainment Community Fund fosters stability and resiliency, and provides a safety net for performing arts and entertainment professionals over their lifespan. The fund envisions a world in which individuals contributing to our country’s cultural vibrancy are supported, valued and economically secure.

The stars of many Broadway shows, including Darren Criss and Joy Woods, were also there.

The event, hosted by Michael Urie, was held just weeks before Tony nominations are announced and many of these actors are frontrunners to get recognized by the American Theatre Wing.

London's Hottest New Musical, 'Operation Mincemeat,' Opens on Broadway With Full Original Cast & Glowing Reviews

The new musical Operation Mincemeat is now open on Broadway after taking London’s West End by storm!

Original cast members Zoe Roberts, Claire-Marie Hall, Jak Malone, Natasha Hodgson, and David Cumming walked the red carpet together at the opening night performance on Thursday (March 21) at the Golden Theatre in New York City.

The five actors, several of whom also helped co-write the musical, all starred in the West End production back in 2023 and they’ve brought the show to New York for a limited run. Originally scheduled to run for 16 weeks only, Operation Mincemeat has already extended its run two times due to popular demand and tickets are on sale through August 18.

Several celebs stepped out for the opening night performance, including Jesse Eisenberg, Samuel L. Jackson with director Kenny Leon, Dylan Mulvaney, and Sydney Lemmon.

In Operation Mincemeat, “it’s 1943, and the Allied Forces are on the ropes. Luckily, they’ve got a trick up their sleeve. Well, not up their sleeve, per se, but rather inside the pocket of a stolen corpse. Equal parts farce, thriller, and Ian Fleming-style spy caper (with an assist from Mr. Fleming himself), Operation Mincemeat tells the wildly improbable and hilarious true story of the covert operation that turned the tide of WWII.”

The show was nominated for six Olivier Awards and won two – Best New Musical and Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical for Jak Malone.

Broadway critics are giving glowing reviews to the musical with TheaterMania calling it “a highlight of the season” and Variety notes the show has “comic madness and theatrical joy.”
