Joshua Bassett is currently performing in the Off-Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors, marking his New York stage debut, and we have the first photos!

The 25-year-old former Disney Channel actor is playing Seymour in the musical, opposite Tony nominee Joy Woods as Audrey.

This is Joy‘s latest stint as Audrey after previously playing the role with both Matt Doyle and Jeremy Jordan. She also was the original Chiffon in this production when it first opened in 2019!

The pair are playing the roles for 10 weeks only, through March 1. They are joined by Tony nominee Andrew Durand as Dr. Orin Scrivello DDS.

Little Shop of Horrors follows Seymour, a down-on-his-luck florist with a crush on his co-worker Audrey. When he discovers a mysterious – and voracious – plant, suddenly Seymour and Audrey are thrust into an epic battle that will determine the fate of the entire human race.

Joshua Bassett is heading to the stage for his musical theater debut in New York City.

The 24-year-old actor, best known for Disney Channel’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, will be playing Seymour in the musical Little Shop of Horrors in the current Off-Broadway production.

Joshua will star opposite Joy Woods, who returns to the production for her latest stint as Audrey after previously playing the role with both Matt Doyle and Jeremy Jordan. She also was the original Chiffon in this production when it first opened in 2019!

“COME SEE ME AS SEYMOUR!!!! I start Dec 19!” Joshua wrote on his Instagram Stories along with a link to buy tickets.

Joshua and Joy will play a 10-week limited engagement through March 1, 2026. They are replacing Thomas Doherty and Madeline Brewer, who play their final performance on December 7. Understudies will cover the roles of Audrey and Seymour from December 9 – 18.

The 42-year-old actress was seen hugging Broadway star Audra McDonald and Gigi Hadid on the carpet at the event, held at Cathedral of St. John the Divine on Monday (October 20) in New York City.

Anne and Audra were both honored at the event, with Gigi presenting to Anne with the Golden Heart award for Outstanding Philanthropy & Volunteerism, and designer/co-chair Michael Kors presenting to Audra with the Michael Kors Award for Outstanding Philanthropy, Artistry, and Activism.

Audra McDonald‘s revelatory performance of Rose in the Broadway musical Gypsy will have its final showing this summer, earlier than expected.

The Broadway superstar, who is the most Tony-winning actor of all time, will perform the final show of the run on August 17. Tickets were originally on sale through October.

Gypsy will have played 28 preview and 269 regular performances at the conclusion of the run next month. The production received five Tony Award nominations, including Best Revival of a Musical and Best Actress in a Musical.

Audra McDonald could be making more Broadway history tonight at the Tonys and she has husband Will Swenson by her side!

The legendary actress looked stunning on the red carpet at the 2025 Tony Awards on Sunday (June 8) at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Audra is nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for her work in the revival of Gypsy. She already holds the record for the most acting wins of any performer with six previous Tony wins. She could extend her record to seven this year!

Also pictured inside is co-star Joy Woods, who is nominated for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical, and co-star Jordan Tyson.

The best of Broadway and Off-Broadway were honored at the 2025 Drama League Awards and Nicole Scherzinger took home the most coveted acting award of the year!

The event took place on Friday afternoon (May 16) at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City.

While the Tony Awards gives out eight acting awards each year to recognize the best in both plays and musicals with gendered categories for leading and supporting performances, the Drama League Awards only gives out one acting award each year. The Distinguished Performance Award has dozens of nominees and combines all performances into one category, making it incredibly difficult to ever win the award. Once you win once, you can never win again, so some actors receive honorary notices when they return to Broadway.

Nicole won the this year’s Distinguished Performance Award for her work in the musical Sunset Blvd.

Some of Broadway‘s biggest stars came together on their night off to celebrate the Entertainment Community Fund, an organization previously known as the Actors Fund.

Nicole Scherzinger, Denzel Washington, and Idina Menzel were among the celebs who hit the red carpet on Monday night (April 21) at the Marriot Marquis in New York City.

Denzel was honored with the Entertainment Community Fund Medal of Honor alongside fellow Oscar winner Ariana DeBose and theater owner James L. Nederlander.

The Entertainment Community Fund fosters stability and resiliency, and provides a safety net for performing arts and entertainment professionals over their lifespan. The fund envisions a world in which individuals contributing to our country’s cultural vibrancy are supported, valued and economically secure.

The stars of many Broadway shows, including Darren Criss and Joy Woods, were also there.

The event, hosted by Michael Urie, was held just weeks before Tony nominations are announced and many of these actors are frontrunners to get recognized by the American Theatre Wing.
