SAG-AFTRA has announced that the Screen Actors Guild Awards will be getting a new name beginning with the 2026 show.
Moving forward, the SAG Awards will now be known as the Actor Awards.
SAG-AFTRA’s Awards Committee chair JoBeth Williams and awards showrunner Jon Brockett announced the news on Friday (November 14) and explained the change in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

It was a blink or you’ll miss it moment, but some fans were quick to notice that former Reign and Hallmark Channel actor Torrance Coombs had an unexpected cameo during a skit at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards!
The 41-year-old actor appeared during a Forgetting Sarah Marshall parody skit with Kristen Bell and Jason Segel on Sunday (February 23) at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
Kristen and Jason stood at the bar and recreated one of their 2008 movie’s iconic scenes. Torrance played the bartender!
“It’s one of my favorite movies,” Torrance told People. “It was a fun moment for me to be part of the bit!”
Torrance played Sebastian “Bash” de Poitiers on The CW’s Reign from 2013 to 2016 and has since appeared in several Hallmark Channel projects, including 2024′s Unwrapping Christmas series.

Andrew Scott likely had a more enjoyable time at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards than he did at the show five years ago.
The 48-year-old actor attended the show as a nominee on Sunday (February 23) at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
Andrew was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series for his work in Ripley, but lost to The Penguin‘s Colin Farrell.
While at the event, Andrew opened up to Variety about the medical emergency he suffered at the 2020 SAG Awards, when he was nominated for Fleabag.

Gossip Girl is taking over the 2025 SAG Awards!
While hosting the event on Sunday night (February 23), Kristen Bell had a fun moment re-creating Gossip Girl with former star of the show Leighton Meester.
“Hey, everyone, Gossip Girl here,” Kristen said in her iconic narrator voice. “One of my sources, LeMee86, sends me this: ‘Spotted at Table 8: Jeff Goldblum has a Wicked appetite. And a peek behind the curtain reveals he likes his green eggs with ham. And look who it is, not-so-lonely boy Timothée Chalamet sitting next to a hot steak, medium rare, au poivre with a side of—”
“Leighton, none of this is gossip,” Kristen said as the camera panned to her squatting next to Leighton at her table. “It’s just all about food.”
“Sorry, I’m just really hungry,” Leighton responded as she took a bite of bread.
“The popes in Conclave were better at gossiping than us,” Kristen said. “I think we should pass the torch.”
“Amen,” Leighton added.
In her opening monologue, Kristen changed up the lyrics to a Frozen song!
