Sarah Drew is speaking out to defend her social media post about the renewal of her Hallmark Channel series Mistletoe Murders.

The former Grey’s Anatomy actress took to her Instagram account on Friday (February 20) to celebrate the show being renewed for a third season.

“Merry merry MISTLETOE MURDERS SEASON 3 babyyyyyyy!!! CANNOT WAIT!!!” Sarah captioned a video filmed with co-star Peter Mooney.

Sarah‘s Grey’s co-star Eric Dane passed away on Thursday and someone commented on her post, “Seems tone deaf 🤦🏽.”

Sarah responded to the comment, pointing out how she realizes the person was probably referring to Eric‘s death, but how there are also so many other things people are grieving right now. She explained why she still decided to celebrate the news.

Mistletoe Murders is coming back to Hallmark Channel for a third season!

Sarah Drew and Peter Mooney announced the news in a cute new video released on Instagram, revealing that season three will air on Hallmark during the 2026 Countdown to Christmas programming block.

“I could not be more thrilled to be returning to Fletcher’s Grove for season 3 of Mistletoe Murders,” Sarah said in a statement to People. “As I’ve said in numerous interviews, this is my favorite job I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to tell more stories about Emily and Sam. I can’t wait to resolve that giant cliffhanger, and I can’t wait to be back on set with my beloved community in Toronto.”

Peter added, “So excited about our season 3 renewal! This is one of those rare shows for us all. The cast is incredible, the crew is incredible. We have so much fun making it.”

The news comes just one day before Sarah‘s new Hallmark Channel movie airs on the network. You can watch The Stars Between Us on Saturday night (February 21).

Sarah Drew and Peter Mooney will be back on Hallmark Channel TONIGHT (November 7) for the second season of their holiday mystery series Mistletoe Murders, which returns after the cliffhanger ending for the first season.

The first season premiered one year ago on the streaming service Hallmark+ and it aired over the past three weeks on Hallmark Channel. Now, the second season will debut on the network before being added to the streaming service one day later.

At the end of the first season, holiday store owner Emily Lane (Drew) and detective Sam Wilner (Mooney) expressed their feelings for one another and shared a passionate kiss, but moments later Sam gets a phone call and learns that Emily had been lying to him about her identity. The season ends with him asking, “Who are you really?” So, what can we expect in season two?

This year, Hallmark’s 24/7 schedule of Christmas content began on October 17, with all-new movies premiering every weekend until the end of the year. Twenty-four of the network’s biggest stars descended on Nashville, home of the highly anticipated movie A Grand Ole Opry Christmas.

Hallmark Channel‘s Countdown for Christmas programming block for 2025 has arrived and the network brought together 24 of their biggest stars to celebrate the launch during two days of fun in Nashville!

Lacey Chabert, Tyler Hynes, Nikki DeLoach, Ashley Williams, Jonathan Bennett, and so many more were in attendance at the launch parties.

The festivities kicked off on Wednesday (October 15) with a holiday takeover of the Opry Plaza, where Hallmark’s upcoming movie A Grand Ole Opry Christmas was filmed. After an afternoon filled with on-stage introductions, meet and greets with fans, radio interviews, and festive holiday treats like hot chocolate and cannolis, the stars attended a performance at the Grand Ole Opry.

The events continued on Thursday night (October 16) at the bar Category 10, where fans were treated to a sneak peek of this year’s holiday programming, plus Country Christmas line dancing and special musical guests like Mickey Guyton and Drew Baldridge.
