Hallmark+ has greenlit a When Calls the Heart prequel series!

Ahead of the season 13 launch of the long-running Hallmark series, the network has announced that the prequel show Hope Valley: 1874 will air on the streaming service Hallmark+.

The eight-episode series will begin production next week in Vancouver ahead of a March 2026 debut on the streamer, according to Variety.

Hallmark’s head of programming, Michelle Vicary, said in a statement, “Hope Valley: 1874 gives us a wonderful opportunity to further explore the universe of When Calls the Heart and build a deeper world around this show for our devoted fans, who have helped make it one of the most successful and enduring series on television today. We’re excited for the Hearties to join us as we tell this rich origin story filled with the kind of heart, community and hope they know and love.”

Hallmark Channel is getting even more festive during the holiday season this year with the announcement of a brand-new special, which will be filmed at the Hallmark Christmas Experience in Kansas City later this month!

The Hallmark Christmas Experience: A Hometown Holiday Christmas Special will debut on Hallmark Channel on Saturday, December 6 at 10pm ET/PT.

The special will air following the premiere of Lacey Chabert and Andrew Walker‘s new movie She’s Making a List. During the special, Lacey will make an appearance to share special news about her Countdown to Christmas movie airing in 2026!

Hallmark Channel has proven it’s never too early to start celebrating Christmas! Stars from the family-friendly network spent the week in Nashville, Tennessee, and JustJared.com got a behind-the-scenes look at how two days of festive events and fan experiences came together.

This year, Hallmark’s 24/7 schedule of Christmas content began on October 17, with all-new movies premiering every weekend until the end of the year. Twenty-four of the network’s biggest stars descended on Nashville, home of the highly anticipated movie A Grand Ole Opry Christmas.

One of Hallmark Channel’s distinguishing traits is the connection it maintains with its audience. In an era when celebrities often feel distant, the network’s talent continues to engage with fans through public appearances, convention meet and greets, and personal traditions that extend beyond the screen.

Benjamin Ayres has been waiting for the right moment to dust off his cowboy hat and Hallmark Channel finally gave him that chance this past week!

The actor joined two dozen of his fellow Hallmark stars to attend the network’s Countdown to Christmas launch events in Nashville, Tenn.

Benjamin wore all denim at an afternoon fan event on the Opry Plaza on Wednesday afternoon (October 15) and he put on a maroon suit for the launch party at Category 10 on Thursday night (October 16). Both events featured his sleek cowboy hat!

While on stage at the Opry Plaza, Benjamin told the story behind the look.

Hallmark Channel‘s Countdown for Christmas programming block for 2025 has arrived and the network brought together 24 of their biggest stars to celebrate the launch during two days of fun in Nashville!

Lacey Chabert, Tyler Hynes, Nikki DeLoach, Ashley Williams, Jonathan Bennett, and so many more were in attendance at the launch parties.

The festivities kicked off on Wednesday (October 15) with a holiday takeover of the Opry Plaza, where Hallmark’s upcoming movie A Grand Ole Opry Christmas was filmed. After an afternoon filled with on-stage introductions, meet and greets with fans, radio interviews, and festive holiday treats like hot chocolate and cannolis, the stars attended a performance at the Grand Ole Opry.

The events continued on Thursday night (October 16) at the bar Category 10, where fans were treated to a sneak peek of this year’s holiday programming, plus Country Christmas line dancing and special musical guests like Mickey Guyton and Drew Baldridge.
