Dennis Quaid believes that President Donald Trump is “genuine” and has his voters’ “best interests at heart.”

The 71-year-old actor was on The Greg Laurie Show hosted by Pastor Greg Laurie last week when the topic of the president came up.

Greg noted that they had both met Trump and asked his guest what he thought about him, adding his own thoughts that the president is “personable,” “funny,” and a “good listener.”

“Very surprisingly approachable and very funny,” The Parent Trap star agreed, “and really genuine.”

He continued, “He wouldn’t be president if he wasn’t genuine because people, the people who voted for him, know that he has their best interest at heart, that he is a genuine person.”

The conversation pivoted to Trump‘s political goals, which Dennis says he’s been talking about for decades.

“He’s been talking about it for 40 years, ever since he’s been on television,” Dennis said, recalling when he’d seen Trump on television back in the 1990s. “He was talking about the very same thing that he’s actually implementing today.”

“I’ve never seen anybody with that kind of energy. “People say that about me, but he’s got it. He’s really got a lot of energy,” he added.

They also discussed where Dennis considers himself to land politically, having previously called himself an independent. He agreed with Greg‘s assessment that “things have gone so extremely, so far left right now.”

“I’m a common-sense independent myself. I think I lean more conservative in my head. But I’m just for common sense. It’s really what I am,” The Right Stuff actor concluded.

According to Dennis, he doesn’t think about the fact that they have an age gap. He said, “I haven’t spoken out about the age difference of my wife. Other people have. But… I really don’t think about it. She’s got so much going on that, you know, I just don’t notice it. She’s just, she’s the light of my life”

The actor had previously spoken about their age gap when they first began dating.

In 2019, he told The Guardian, “I didn’t go out looking for an age gap or someone really younger than me. I met her at a business event and then the relationship developed. Happy Face was inspired by Melissa Moore, the daughter of Keith Hunter Jesperson, also known as “The Happy Face Killer.”

Melissa wrote a 2009 memoir and launched a podcast in 2018 to tell her story. The podcast and memoir inspired the series, which features Dennis Quaid as the killer and Annaleigh Ashford as a character based on Melissa herself.

The series follows as the fictional Melissa finds herself back in contact with her incarcerated serial killer father who claims that an innocent man has been accused of a crime that he had secretly committed.

The season 1 finale of Happy Face was released in May of this year and two months later, Paramount+ has made the decision not to renew it.

The 2018 movie I Can Only Imagine is getting a sequel and the main cast has been revealed!

The first film, which follows the story of Christian music group MercyMe‘s lead singer Bart Millard, grossed $86 million worldwide after being made for just $7 million.

The sequel will be directed by Andrew Erwin and Brent McCorkle from a screenplay written by McCorkle.

Producer Kevin Downes said, “We couldn’t be more thrilled with the level of talent that has come together to continue this extraordinary story.”

Co-director Andrew Erwin added, “The first I Can Only Imagine film was such a rare magical moment, and with Brent’s script, this new film will complete Bart’s journey in such a satisfying way. It feels like it was always meant to be.”

“I really had to think about this one for a long time, simply because I didn’t want him to feel any kind of glory about himself being out there, which is exactly what he wants,” Dennis said of the killer, via Variety, who is currently serving four consecutive life sentences at the Oregon State Penitentiary. “It’s entertaining for him, I think. But to play somebody like this has an effect on you. It has to if you have to approach these places, to figure out these people. And it turns out that serial killers aren’t really all that difficult to play because they really don’t have many emotions to speak of. They don’t feel people’s pain.”

The upcoming drama series is inspired by the true story of Melissa G. Moore, the iHeartPodcast Happy Face and the autobiography “Shattered Silence.”

Here’s a synopsis: Happy Face follows Melissa (Ashford) and her incarcerated father, known as the Happy Face Killer (Quaid). After decades of no contact, he finally finds a way to force himself back into his daughter’s life. In a race against the clock, Melissa must find out if an innocent man is going to be put to death for a crime her father committed. Throughout, she discovers the impact her father had on his victims’ families and must face a reckoning of her own identity.

Happy Face, consisting of eight episodes, will premiere on Thursday, March 20th on Paramount+ with the first two episodes, followed by one new episode weekly. The season finale will debut on Thursday, May 1st. Check out the trailer here!

Texas natives Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson had a True Detective reunion while filming a commercial advocating for bringing Hollywood productions back to their home state.

On Wednesday (January 29), the actors joined forces with several other big stars from the Lone Star State to film the four-minute clip for True to Texas.

Their goal? To encourage lawmakers to incentivize filming in Texas so that the state becomes more competitive.

NBC is facing some major backlash over their interview with Dennis Quaid.

On Friday night (January 10), the 70-year-old The Substance actor was in the middle of frantically packing up his car outside of his home in Brentwood, Calif. when a reporter for NBC 4 Los Angeles kept going up to him and asking questions about the fire.

Dennis appeared polite and spoke with the reporter, even getting emotional at one point, despite hurriedly trying to evacuate.

After the segment, many took to X, formerly Twitter, to call out NBC for disrupting Dennis as he tried to get his family to safety.

If you didn’t know, Lea, 63, and Dennis, 70, first met on set of Jaws 3 back in 1982. They got engaged in 1984 before splitting in 1987.

Dennis Quaid is reflecting on his role as Nick Parker!

The 70-year-old Parent Trap alum reflected on the beloved 1998 film, and also pondered where his character would be today, in an interview with E! News.

“I guess he’d be sipping some of the wine out of his vineyard,” he said, adding “not traveling too far from home.”

He went on to speculate that Nick would still likely be horseback riding and running around the California property, adding, “No cane involved.”

Dennis Quaid is revealing how his son Jack Quaid got his name!

The 70-year-old The Long Game actor shares the 31-year-old The Boys actor with ex-wife Meg Ryan.

In a recent interview, Dennis opened up about how Jack got his name and he revealed the famous actor he was named after.

“I just got to L.A. and my brother [Randy Quaid] got a part in a movie called Missouri Breaks,” Dennis shared with E! News. “So I drove my brother’s car up to Montana. My very first movie set, I’m watching these actors, my real heroes. We hung out at Jack Nicholson‘s house every night. He and Randy were good friends.”

“They gave me a lot of encouragement,” he added. “And that’s a true story that we named him Jack after that.”

Earlier this year, Dennis and Jack made a rare public appearance together at a Golden Globes party!

While Jack‘s hit show The Boys is set to premiere it’s fourth season on Prime Video this summer, the actor is also reportedly about to head back to set to start filming the next season.

Jack Quaid made the rounds celebrating his movie Oppenheimer after the 2024 Golden Globes on Sunday night (January 7) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 31-year-old actor was spotted celebrating the film’s many wins at the awards ceremony earlier in the night alongside his famous dad Dennis Quaid at the UTA after party!

Jack and Dennis are both repped by UTA (United Talent Agency).

The father-son acting duo have rarely made any public outings together, and this marks the first time they’ve been photographed at an event together since October 2015. At that time, they were seen attending a Giorgio Armani and Cinema Society screening of the film Truth.

Jack had a lot to celebrate this week, in both film and television – He was in Oppenheimer, which picked up five awards at the Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture – Drama.

“Congrats to all my Oppenhomies!” he captioned a post from the Golden Globes night.

The following night, Jack joined several of his The Boys co-stars at the 2024 Astra TV Awards, where the Prime Video series was up for multiple awards, including a nomination for Jack himself, for Best Actor in a Streaming Drama Series, which went to his co-star Antony Starr. The show also won the Best Streaming Drama Series award!

Claire Danes is showing off her growing baby bump!

The 44-year-old actress cozied up to husband, actor Hugh Dancy, on the red carpet for the premiere of her new movie, Full Circle, during the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival on Sunday night (June 11) in New York City.

At the event, Claire told People that she was feeling “very, very knocked up”.

Claire is in the final stretch of her third pregnancy. She and Hugh also have two sons, Cyrus, 10, and Rowan, 4.

She then noted that her sons have had some opinions about what to call the baby: “They have opinions, and they’re all pretty absurd.”

However, “we have not landed on anything yet, but you know, we still have a little bit of time.”

Phaldut Sharma, CCH Pounder, Jharrel Jerome, Zazie Beetz, Timothy Olyphant, Jim Gaffigan, and Dennis Quaid were also seen at the premiere.
