James McAvoy is promoting his directorial debut at the 2025 Rome Film Festival!

The 46-year-old held hands with wife Lisa Liberati at the premiere of his movie California Schemin’ on Monday (October 20) held at Auditorium Parco Della Musica in Rome, Italy.

Also in attendance at the premiere was the movie’s star Séamus McLean Ross.

The day before, James and Séamus attended the photo call for the movie.

Here’s the synopsis: “Inspired by the real-life saga of Scottish rap duo Silibil N’ Brains, a.k.a. Gavin Bain (Séamus McLean Ross) and Billy Boyd (Samuel Bottomley), the film follows the unexpected journey of two lifelong friends from Dundee who dream of hip-hop superstardom. There’s just one problem: nobody takes two white guys with thick regional accents seriously in the UK’s early 2000s rap scene, especially not the London gatekeepers who laugh them out of an audition.”

Along with directing the movie, James also plays a record exec in it.

James McAvoy is getting support from his wife on his big night at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival!

The 46-year-old actor made a rare red carpet appearance with wife Lisa Liberati at the premiere of his directorial debut California Schemin’ on Saturday (September 6) held at the TIFF Lightbox in Toronto, Canada.

Also in attendance were the stars of the movie Samuel Bottomley and Séamus McLean Ross.

Here’s the synopsis: “Inspired by the real-life saga of Scottish rap duo Silibil N’ Brains, a.k.a. Gavin Bain (Séamus McLean Ross) and Billy Boyd (Samuel Bottomley), the film follows the unexpected journey of two lifelong friends from Dundee who dream of hip-hop superstardom. For those who don’t know, James and Lisa met back in 2016 while working together on the movie Split. Lisa was director M. Night Shyamalan‘s assistant at the time. They began dating a couple years later and they confirmed their marriage in early 2022.

The Outlander stars stepped out for the “STARZ: Outlander: A Timeless Look Back at the Iconic Series and a First Look at the Final Season” panel at San Diego Convention Center.

Also in attendance for a panel right after was the cast of Outlander: Blood of my Blood – Harriet Slater, Seamus McLean Ross, Hermione Corfield, Jamie Roy, Rory Alexander and Sam Retford, as well as Raya Yarbrough, who sang “The Skye Boat Song” for Outlander‘s theme for the first six seasons, performed her version live in between the panels.

At the panels, a new teaser for Outlander‘s upcoming eighth and final season was shared, and the release time frame was revealed. There was also an exciting update on Outlander: Blood of my Blood.
