I Know What You Did Last Summer is a hit with horror movie fans now, but it’s being reported that one person wasn’t a fan of the 1997 movie.

Lois Duncan, author of the 1973 novel that inspired the classic horror movie, was reportedly not a fan of Kevin Williamson‘s 1997 adaptation.

Variety reports that Clark Collis upcoming nonfiction book “Screaming and Conjuring: The Resurrection and Unstoppable Rise of the Modern Horror Movie” details her issues with the movie.

According to the book, Lois did a Q&A session in 2010 where she opened up about the original I Know What You Did Last Summer movie and said, “I was quite horrified by the sensationalized violence. Several years earlier, my own teenage daughter, Kait, had been chased down in her car and shot to death, and I had seen, right in front of my eyes, what real violence is. To have people screaming and laughing about it did not go down well… So I was not happy with the movie, but I have to admit I was happy with the fact that the book had been made into a movie, because that made all my backlist suddenly very popular. It was like getting a rebirth, but in a very strange way.”

Thanks to the success of Kevin‘s Scream, he had been given permission to make some major changes to Lois‘ novel.

One of the biggest changes was adding the iconic fisherman villain to the movie, adding the 90s slasher violence that Lois was not a fan of.

If you missed it, 2025′s I Know What You Did Last Summer has an iconic cameo in the after credits scene.

It’s official – Scream 7 has started filming!!

Director Kevin Williamson revealed the news on his Instagram on Tuesday evening (January 7), by sharing a photo of the first slate and a caption about the first day.

If you didn’t know, this marks a return to the Scream franchise for Kevin, who wrote the first two movies and the fourth. This will be his first time directing one of the films.

Paul Wesley joins Carrie Ann Moss on the red carpet after the panel for Tell Me a Story during the 2019 New York Comic Con at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on Thursday (October 3) in New York City.

The two stars of the CBS All Access show were joined at the event by Danielle Campbell, Odette Annabelle, Eka Darville and Natalie Alyn Lind, as well as showrunner Kevin Williamson for the panel and a special screening teasing the season two premiere.

The bosses behind The Vampire Diaries are just as happy as we are to have Nina Dobrev return for the series finale.

Executive producers Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson both released statements about Nina coming back for the final episode.

“I’m thrilled to bring this show to an end the way we always intended – with Nina back to help us say goodbye,” Julie said (via TVLine.com).

Kevin added, “I’m so excited to have Nina back to ensure our farewell episode is truly epic!”
