The NCIS franchise on CBS and its streaming service, Paramount+, are big fan favorites.

Currently, there are three TV shows on CBS: NCIS: Origins, NCIS: Sydney, and the original series. Over the years, there have also been spinoff TV shows from the NCIS franchise.

Well, Just Jared has all the answers here. We’re breaking down the renewal and cancellation status of all of the current NCIS TV shows. Fans are not thrilled to see one of the shows getting axed, especially given where the characters left off in the story.

You may be wondering why the three NCIS TV shows – the OG series, Origins, and Sydney - are not airing new episodes tonight.

Well, the CBS TV shows are actually currently on a winter hiatus! While it may seem like a bummer, it’s actually very common for TV shows to take breaks for the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s holidays.

CBS has extended their winter hiatuses through January, and all shows will be returning in February with new episodes.

New reports about the viewership numbers for NCIS spinoffs NCIS: Origins and NCIS: Sydney have some fans concerned that the shows aren’t going to last much longer.

NCIS launched international series NCIS: Sydney in 2023, and prequel series NCIS: Origins arrived in 2024.

As of December, the TV Ratings Guide reports that the current numbers for both shows lean towards cancellation, and both shows are “in clear danger.”

NCIS and NCIS: Sydney are going on hiatus after brand new episodes air on Tuesday (December 16).

At 8pm ET, the flagship series will air a new episode, “Heaven and Nature,” and then at 9pm ET, the Sydney spinoff will air an ep titled “South of Nowhere.”

After tonight’s eps, we won’t see new episodes of either show for weeks and weeks. Why is this happening and when will they return?

NCIS: Sydney is returning to CBS tonight and we have the scoop on the cast!

Season two debuted earlier this year, and now, season three is set to air on Tuesday nights this season as part of CBS’ NCIS night.

Also airing on Tuesday nights are the flagship series, as well as NCIS: Origins.
