The series is titled Marshals! It was originally titled Y: Marshals, but underwent a slight title change a few weeks ago. In addition to returning characters from the Yellowstone universe, there will also be some new stars joining the cast as well. However, fans are now suspecting that a major character will be killed off!

According to TV Insider, the upcoming CBS series will just be “Marshals” moving forward, dropping the “Y.” However the “Y”/Yellowstone logo will still be present in the show’s logo and branding.

Ed Harris is joining the Yellowstone universe.

The 74-year-old actor has joined the Beth and Rip spinoff series, The Dutton Ranch, in one of the leading roles. Deadline reports that he’ll be playing “Everett McKinney, a weathered veteran and veterinarian who treats animals with compassion and understanding, and possesses a good sense of humor.”

The Paramount+ series will follow Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), reprising their roles from the original series.

The Yellowstone spinoff series, now titled The Dutton Ranch, has a big star attached: Annette Bening will join the three stars who have already signed on to reprise their roles!

The Paramount+ series will follow Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), and according to Deadline, Annette will have a leading role as well.

Annette will take on the character of Beulah Jackson, who is described as a ” powerful, cunning, and charming head of a major ranch in Texas.”

Finn first appeared in Yellowstone season four and continued through to the end of the series.

His character Carter is a “troubled teen who met Beth at the hospital when she was visiting her ailing father, and where Carter’s father was dying. After he loses his father due to drug addiction, Beth and Rip become his guardians, giving Carter work on their ranch. Beth, unable to have children due to a forced sterilization, is uninterested in being a mother. However, she and Rip form a bond with the hard-working young man who remained with them.”

Tentatively titled Dutton Ranch, the latest spinoff is looking to release this fall.

There will be 13 episodes in the first season of Y: Marshals and the show is set to begin shooting in summer 2025 with plans to launch in 2026 as a mid-season premiere.

While there’s still no official word, stars of the show have already addressed a potential Season 3.

“I don’t see how you can top the ending for 1923, it is so beautiful. But I’m certain the adventures for the Dutton family are far from over. I can’t wait to see what Mr. [Taylor] Sheridan does next,” star Sarah Randall Hunt said to Newsweek of the series.

Castmate Brian Konowal also weighed in about Season 3, saying: “I wish I could speak to that, but I can neither confirm nor deny Season 2 being the last. That’s a question best directed to Taylor, as it’s ultimately his decision. But I absolutely love the Yellowstone universe and can’t wait to see what Taylor continues to create within it.”

“Fans can expect a very intense Season 2. There will be gut-wrenching highs and lows,” he also teased. “Taylor does not pull his punches. I had a lot of ‘I did not see that coming!’ moments when I was reading the scripts. I think fans are going to love the journey.”

“Taylor is really unpacking some interesting conundrums throughout the series, and the thing is action-packed,” Sarah added. “Aside from the huge entertainment value, I just love the underlying stories of this series and of 1883. He really gets us thinking about who we are, where we came from, what we have to learn from that and where we’re going.”

“Hold on to your seats,” she continued. “It’s gonna be a wild ride.”

Back in May of 2023, Brandon Sklenar said the series will end after Season 2.

“No, no, it’s bookend. It’s still limited, but I mean we kind of—I think of it as one piece—it’s just, there’s just a split in the middle, but it’s all one piece,” he said at the time. “It will conclude, um, yeah at the end of that.”

Helen Mirren added in the same interview at the time she likes stories “to have a beginning, a middle and an end” noting, “endings are always very difficult, Shakespeare could never do endings.”

“So I love it when you have the satisfaction of, you know, the whole journey and then it’s over than when it dribbles on and on,” she said.

Luke told Men’s Health, “I haven’t talked to him since. It’s not a case of any hard feelings or anything; it’s just, he’s Kevin Costner. [Laughs] He’s a big deal. I do have his phone number—I just don’t feel like it’s my place to reach out. He can reach out to me if he wants to. None of us saw it coming the way it did, and obviously there was news about possible blowups behind the scenes or whatever. But just like in life, man, these things happen, they happen fast, and they’re not predictable.”

Luke continued, “I lost my father a few years ago. It happened fast, and it was not the way that you would think that that would happen. In life, these things happen and then people have to start making decisions. And in our little Yellowstone world, that helped ramp the show up into a boil.”

Yellowstone has just come to an end after airing the fifth season finale, and perhaps the series finale, on Sunday night (December 15)!

While a season six renewal has not been confirmed, there have been some questions about the future of the show, even though it was previously said to end after this season.

Star Kelly Reilly even shared an emotional post ahead of the finale, saying this is the end of the show as we know it. However, it was recently announced a spinoff is in the works with her character!

So, how did Yellowstone end? The season finale was jam-packed and included yet another death.

The finale starts off with several of the ranch hands saying their goodbyes and where they are off to next. Jimmy, Mia and Travis go back to the 6666 in Texas, while Walker says he’s going to follow his girlfriend on the rodeo circuit.

Kayce sold off the Yellowstone ranch to Chief Thomas Rainwater for $1.25/acre, the same amount the Duttons purchased it for originally. As part of the deal, he secured the North Camp land for him, where he would live with Monica and Tate.

Speaking of land, Beth shows Rip a plot of land asking if they could find a way to make that their new home, and after they discussed it and he agreed, she said she already bought it that morning.

The Duttons laid patriarch John Dutton to rest at a small funeral with just the family, minus Jamie, where Beth promised to get retribution for her father’s death.

Following the funeral, Beth went straight to Jamie’s house, armed with bear spray and a big knife, where she snuck up on her estranged brother and the two got into a brawl.

During their fight, Jamie tells her that she is going to be arrested and charged with their father’s murder and she’ll rot in a jail cell as he oversees the ranch being sold in pieces to be transformed into a recreational destination.

She informs him that it was already sold and he gets more angry, but Rip shows up and throws him into a wall. Before Rip could do much damage, Beth interrupts him and shoves the knife right into Jamie’s heart and demanding he look her right in the eyes to fulfill her promise of being the last face he sees.

Next, she tells Rip to call 911, and that he should take the body to the train station, the ravine over the state border where there’s no police jurisdiction. She says she’ll spin a story that Jamie assaulted her and he ran off while she was unconscious.

Rip and Lloyd dispose of the body and set Jamie’s car on fire in a field in Iowa, while Beth’s story is validated and there are warrants issued for Jamie’s arrest.

At the end of the episode, Yellowstone signage is removed from the ranch by the tribe. Mo Brings Plenty follows a group of kids into the woods where he finds them destroying Dutton family headstones. He stops them and says it’s hallowed ground and as he puts headstones back in place, we hear the voice of Elsa Dutton, from 1883 played by Isabel May, as she narrates the ending moments and connects dots tracing back to the family’s first trek from Texas to Montana.

Kelly Reilly is saying goodbye to Yellowstone.

The 47-year-old actress, who plays Beth Hutton on the Paramount+ series, spoke out in an emotional post ahead of the Season 5 finale on Sunday (December 16).

“Hi, I’m so deep into another role at the moment about another land worth fighting for in the UK… but across the pond the finale is happening tonight of the show. Whatever the future holds this is the ending of the show we have been making for the past 7 years,” she wrote.
