'The Voice' Season 29 Coaches: Who Is Returning for Battle of Champions & Who Is Not Back

Reba McEntire – LEAVING!
After originally appearing on Season 23 of The Voice as a mega mentor, Reba McEntire returned for Season 24 as a full-time coach, and returned for Season 25. She then returned for Season 26 as well, before leaving for Season 27. She came back aboard for Season 28, and will be leaving for Season 29.
“I want my contestants, my artists, to know when it touches my heart, because that’s what I preach all the time. If you’re singing the song and there’s no emotion to it, it’s just a song,” she said of showing emotion on TV to Taste of Country.
“You can make it so much more incredible by putting the emotion in. Because if you do that, if you’ve got emotion in your heart when you sing it, I’m gonna feel it, and your job’s complete.”
She previously led Asher HaVon to victory in Season 25.

Niall Horan – LEAVING!
Niall Horan was brand new to the show for the early 2023 season. He returned for Season 24 last fall, and left for Season 25. He came back for Season 28, but will be leaving for the Spring 2026 season.
“I’ll be honest with you, that’s the part I’ve struggled with,” he explained of rejecting artists on the show on Hot Ones. “Because I know what it’s like to be 16 and stood on the stage and looking at some famous dude that’s got your future in his hands. The easy part is pressing the red button, spinning the chair, saying how you like someone.”
“But when the chair turns around, and you’re not with them, how do you give them that rejection feedback? That’s where I’ve struggled with it. But it’s full circle stuff, and I gotta’ say, I’ve really enjoyed it. Apart from the rejection, I really enjoy it.”
He previously won three times, first with Gina Miles, then with Huntley. Most recently, he won with Aiden Ross for Season 28.
