It doesn’t sound like Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel‘s son will be following in their Broadway footsteps!

If you forgot, the 54-year-old All American actor and the 54-year-old Wicked actress married in 2003 after starring in the 1996 Broadway production of Rent. They split in 2013 and their divorce was finalized two years later. They share 15-year-old son Walker.

While appearing on Live With Kelly & Mark on Thursday (July 31) to promote his new role in Moulin Rouge! on Broadway, Taye admitted that Walker “can’t stand” musical theater.

The 53-year-old actor walked the red carpet with his 15-year-old son Walker Diggs while attending The Critics Choice Association’s 7th Annual Celebration of Black Cinema & Television on Monday night (December 9) at Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

Taye Diggs has a special someone in his life right now and it seems to be pretty serious as he introduced her to his son Walker!

The 48-year-old All American actor opened up about his new relationship while appearing on The Talk on Tuesday (October 22) in Los Angeles.

“I started seeing somebody, and it was pretty stressful, but I introduced her to him and they get along really well,” Taye said. “We just went out and decorated the whole house for Halloween, so that was cool. You know what he said? I said, ‘How do you like the new lady?’ And he goes, ‘It’s good, she doesn’t use the high voice when she talks to me, she talks to me like an adult.’ She speaks to him like an adult and he respects that.”

Taye has said that in the past, Walker, his son with ex-wife Idina Menzel, was not a fan of meeting his girlfriends.

Taye and Walker even got the chance to hit the field to meet former baseball starting pitcher Andy Pettitte.

The 44-year-old actor later went to the beach despite the cold weather to spend time with his son Walker. He posted a photo of his six-year-old son looking out at the water and posted it on Instagram.

“#beach,” Taye simply captioned the picture.

The family is spending Christmas on the West Coast, where Walker‘s mom Idina Menzel is performing in her musical If/Then on tour.

Taye Diggs is speaking out to clarify some comments he made about his biracial son Walker, whose mom is Idina Menzel.

The 44-year-old actor said that he hopes society doesn’t view him as “black” so that there is not confusion over his mom being white.

“When you [call biracial kids black], you risk disrespecting that one half of who you are and that’s my fear,” Taye told TheGrio.com. “I don’t want my son to be in a situation where he calls himself black and everyone thinks he has a black mom and a black dad, and then they see a white mother, they wonder, ‘Oh, what’s going on?’”

Taye later took to Twitter to share a clarification of his comments.

“I am a proud black man. I want my son to grow up to be a proud black man if he so chooses. He has a mother who is white. He has every right to be just as proud of his mother’s ‘blood’ as well. Please wake up, people. It’s not that deep,” Taye said.
