A rep for Martin Short has confirmed the tragic passing of his daughter Katherine.

Earlier today, it was reported that the 42-year-old was found deceased on Monday (February 23) at her home in Los Angeles. TMZ is reporting that it was a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but this has not been confirmed by the Short family at this time.

“It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short. The Short family is devastated by this loss, and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world,” a rep provided in a statement to Just Jared.

She was adopted by Martin and his late wife Nancy, who died in 2010. She is survived by Martin, as well as her younger brothers, Henry and Oliver.

Our deepest condolences to Martin Short‘s family, as well as all of Katherine’s loved ones during this time. RIP.

TMZ is reporting that a “law enforcement source” revealed the news that she took her own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. This has not yet been confirmed by the Short family.

They say the LAPD arrived at her home on Monday evening (February 23) in the Hollywood Hills, where she was found.

Martin and Catherine worked together at Second City improv theater in the 1970s, and later on Second City Television. She also met her Schitt’s Creek co-star Eugene Levy through Second City.

Catherine and the Only Murders in the Building actor co-starred in animated movies like The Addams Family and Frankenweenie.

She and Steve worked on the Lorne Michaels-created The New Show and co-starred in the 1994 comedy-drama film A Simple Twist of Fate.

Martin Short actually almost ruined co-star Selena Gomez‘s special day.

The 75-year-old Only Murders in the Building star made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday (January 21), where he discussed Selena‘s wedding to Benny Blanco.

During his appearance, he admitted that there was a horrible mishap related to their wedding cake.

“The wedding was perfect and it was beautiful,” he began.

“Everything was perfect except the night of the reception,” he went on to say.

“It was a big, big party…big tents and at the back of the tent where these individual seating areas with couches and chairs. So that if you had a group, like we had a group, Only Murders in the Building, there was about 12 of us,” he went on to explain.

“And there was a wedding cake by our section but it was a small wedding cake. I just assumed there was a wedding cake for each section in the back. So after a few hours, they haven’t cut their wedding cake yet, Steve [Martin] said he was going to leave.”

“Maybe I’d had a cocktail, I don’t know. So I said, ‘Oh Steve, you can’t leave’ – I had a fork in my hand – ‘You can’t leave yet without a piece of wedding cake.’ And I cut the wedding cake, one side, cut it the other and then all the people in our group scream, ‘Marty!’”

“It was the wedding cake,” he hilariously noted as they displayed a photo of the evidence on-screen.

“I tried to fix it with a fork. This was bad. This was about an hour before it was to be presented. And so I turned to [co-star] Paul Rudd and said, ‘So, do we just leave?’ And then they called the wedding coordinator and then the chef came out,” he explained.

“He was like, ‘What the hell happened here?’” he amusingly recalled.

“Then they did surgery but it ended up being like a Hollywood wedding cake and that it was beautiful but now it had a little work done,” Martin said.

“Steve was so stunned when I did that he gained color,” Martin noted of his co-star.

“I kept saying, ‘Guys, we can’t let Selena know.’ And Steven said, ‘Maybe we tell her in a month or so.’” Watch him explain the debacle above!

The killer turns out to be Mayor Beau Tillman (Keegan-Michael Key), who had been secretly involved with Sofia Caccimelio (Téa Leoni).

On the night of the crime, Sofia confessed she wanted out of her marriage, sending her husband Nicky (Bobby Cannavale) spiraling.

Nicky confronted the mayor, cut off his finger, and attempted to attack Lester. In the chaos, Nicky died by accident, and Lester tried to bring the truth forward. He was able to text his wife the identity of the man who was about to kill him, which got autocorrected. Beau Tillman chased him through the courtyard, shoved him into the fountain, and caused the fatal injury.

The mayor attempted to silence the trio by trapping them inside the collapsing building, but Howard (Michael Cyril Creighton) and Althea (Beanie Feldstein) staged a chaotic rescue, and the group revealed a full recording of Beau admitting to the murder, thanks to a hidden recording device inside the roulette table.

Three months later, we see that Lester’s wife moves into the Arconia, Howard finds new love, and the trio listen to a new Cinda Canning (Tina Fey) podcast The Girl with the Curls about a red-haired woman accused of killing a royal descendant, who Cinda believes is innocent. Moments later, that same woman collapses outside the Arconia gates: it’s Cinda, meaning the potential Season 6 now has its victim.

Saturday Night Live is back with it’s 51st season on air!

The NBC late night sketch show first debuted exactly 50 years ago TODAY, on October 11, 1975, from creator Lorne Michaels, who still executive produces and is in charge to this day.

Bill Hader and Ali Wong are enjoying a night out with some fellow comedians!

The couple stepped out for dinner with Bill‘s former Saturday Night Live co-star Fred Armisen and his wife Riki Lindhome along with Martin Short on Tuesday night (October 7) at Italian restaurant Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, Calif.

As they left the restaurant, Bill and Fred were seen play arguing for the photographers as the rest of the group laughed.

They then all hugged and said their goodbyes before going their separate ways.

If you didn’t know, Bill and Fred shared the screen on SNL from 2005 until 2013 when they both left the show.

“I think that the reality is, you know when it feels like it’s past its time,” he told Variety. “I think everyone’s amazed that it’s gone this long. This is a long time in streaming to go five years. The Dick Van Dyke Show ended after five years, because one of the reasons was that they were afraid of losing the quality of it. But then, Friends went how long, and they were always brilliant.”

He also dished on the “reputation it has as a workplace in New York. It is a very loose set, and one of the reasons is because Steve [Martin] and Selena [Gomez] and I all work the exact same way, screwing around, getting the crew to laugh. Everyone is laughing, and… action! Oh a, screw up, laughing. That kind of joie de vivre is what permeates the set, and I think that is translates a little bit to the camera as well.”

Martin appeared on the Monday (June 30) episode of Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend. During the visit, he talked about being shocked that Meryl was just as nervous as he was to film their first scene together.

“So, the first scene we shot in Only Murders was a scene where we’re at the piano and we’re kind of flirting a little bit,” Martin revealed during the episode. He shared that in between shots, he overheard Meryl talking to herself about her nerves.

“We go into holding area and she just says, ”Okay, nerves to half.’ And I go, ‘Wait a second, I was nervous. You can’t be nervous,’” Martin revealed during the interview.

Things are getting steamy between Martin Short and Meryl Streep on set!

The co-stars, and rumored real-life couple, filmed some intense kissing scenes for season five of Only Murders in the Building on Wednesday afternoon (May 7) in Queens, New York.

If you forgot, season four saw Meryl‘s character, Loretta Durkin, get married to Marty‘s character, Oliver Putnam. After their wedding festivities, the Arconia’s doorman, Lester (Teddy Coluca) was found dead.

Later that day, Selena Gomez and Steve Martin joined Marty in his character’s yellow and orange French Peugeot 504 car as they filmed scenes seemingly spying on someone.

Hulu will be bringing us the new Only Murders season later this year and there are some exciting actors joining the cast, including two Oscar winners!

Season four saw Meryl‘s character, Loretta Durkin, get married to Martin Short‘s character, Oliver Putnam. After their wedding festivities, the Arconia’s doorman, Lester (Teddy Coluca) was found dead.

At the end of season 4, Loretta ended up moving out of country, to New Zealand specifically, for an acting gig, so she must be in town to visit! Martin Short is signing on for gameshow hosting duties!

The 75-year-old actor will officially be the host of another revival of the game show Match Game on ABC, Variety has confirmed.

If you didn’t know, Match Game first aired in 1962, and it has been revived several times over the decades. Alec Baldwin hosted the 2016 ABC revival, which ran for five seasons until 2021.

John Mulaney is heading out on tour.

The 42-year-old standup comedian is embarking on a brand new trek around the country, called John Mulaney: Mister Whatever.

“I’m so excited to finally be given a platform to share my thoughts,” he joked to People.

“Hey, it’s me, John Mulaney, and I’ve got great news. I’m going on tour,” he says in the clip. “My new tour, Mister Whatever, is coming to a city near you. Pre sale starts April 23, with the presale code, MISTER, and you can get tickets at JohnMulaney.com. Hope to see you at a show!”

The men then order the comedian to remind fans that the sale will go live a 10 a.m. local time.

“What do you mean, local time? No matter where you are it’s 10 a.m.? Okay,” he says.

From Wednesday, April 23 to Thursday, April 24 at 11:59 pm local, fans will have the opportunity to buy tickets on presale. The regular sale begins on Friday, April 25 at 10 a.m. local time.

Special guests will include Jon Stewart, Pete Davidson, Martin Short, Fred Armisen, Mike Birbiglia, and Nick Kroll.

So many stars have come out of Saturday Night Live over the years!
