Chris Paul is retiring from the NBA.
The 40-year-old basketball player announced the news in a statement on Instagram just moments after it was revealed that the Toronto Raptors were waiving him.
This was supposed to be Chris‘ final year in the NBA, but he will no longer be playing. His 21-year career includes two Olympic gold medals, 12 times as an All Star, and being a member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.
After spending most of his career with the New Orleans Hornets and then the Los Angeles Clippers, Paul has also played for the Houston Rockets, the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Phoenix Suns, the Golden State Warriors, and the San Antonio Spurs.
“This is it! After over 21 years I’m stepping away from basketball,” Chris began his lengthy statement.
