Carlos Alcaraz Seals Youngest Career Grand Slam at 22 With Australian Open Win Over Novak Djokovic

Carlos Alcaraz wins the Australian Open tennis tournament on Sunday (February 1) at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena during a four-set thriller against Novak Djokovic, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5.

The 22-year-old Spaniard just became the youngest man to complete a Career Grand Slam by winning the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open. This is his seventh Grand Slam title – French Open (2024, 2025), Wimbledon (2023, 2024) and US Open (2022, 2025).

“Nobody knows how hard I’ve been working to get this trophy,” Carlos, who pulled in $2.75 million in prize money told his team during his victory speech. “It was bit of a roller coaster emotionally and not hearing what people were saying before Australia…this trophy is always yours.”

Novak, 38, was in pursuit of his 25th Grand Slam. “What you have been doing is historic and legendary,” he said of Carlos during his acceptance speech.

Yesterday, Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina defeated world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in a thrilling three set final, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

Elena Rybakina Wins Australian Open After Stunning Comeback Against Aryna Sabalenka

Elena Rybakina captures her second career Grand Slam singles title on Saturday (January 31) at Melbourne’s Australian Open tennis tournament.

The 26-year-old Kazakhstani star defeated world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in a thrilling three set final, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, inside Rod Laver Arena.

Elena recorded her 10th consecutive victory over a Top 10 opponent, a feat achieved by only five women this century (Justine Henin, Amelie Mauresmo, Serena Williams, Venus Williams and Iga Swiatek).

“It’s hard to find words but I want to congratulate Aryna for amazing results for a couple of years,” Elena, who pulled in $2.75 million in prize money, shared during her victory speech. “I know it’s tough, but I hope we’re going to play many more finals together.”

The win marks Elena‘s first major title since Wimbledon 2022, with coach Stefano Vukov playing a pivotal role in both of her Grand Slam successes.
