The Team USA’s men’s hockey team received roaring cheers and applause during Donald Trump‘s State of the Union address on Tuesday evening (February 24) in Washington, DC.

Members of the gold-winning team first met with the President earlier that day in the Oval Office, before making an appearance during the address later that night.

While 20 members of the team made the trip to the White House, including siblings Jack and Quinn Hughes, goalie Connor Hellebuyck and more, there were five guys who did not go.

Brock Nelson, Jackson LaCombe, Jake Oettinger, Jake Guentzel and Kyle Connor all skipped the DC visit on Tuesday.

According to People, local reporters noted that Brock skipped the trip to go back home to his family, and Guentzel went back to Tampa to prep for a game the next day. The other players also returned home to prep for their team games.

Towards the beginning of his State of the Union address, Trump welcomed the Team USA men’s hockey team, congratulated them once again and even revealed one team member will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom!

“Here with us tonight is a group of winners who just made the entire nation proud. The men’s gold medal Olympic hockey team,” Trump said as “USA!” chants began and the team filed in to the room above him.

“They beat a fantastic Canadian team in overtime as everybody saw,” he continued after the cheers and chants died down. “As did the American women, who will soon be coming to the White House.”

Trump‘s claim that the women’s hockey team will visit the White House comes after they previously turned down an invitation due to prior commitments. Since then, Flavor Flav has invited the women to celebrate their win with him in Las Vegas.

“They were in the Oval Office before, and I just want to say a second, very big congratulations to Team USA, but I have to say that… And I told them this and we took a vote of the team. I said, ‘Anybody that votes no, I’m not doing it,’” Trump continued during the SOTU address. “So they stood there and they worried about saying no, ’cause I never seen a goaltender play as well as Connor Hellebuyck.”

“I just want to tell you that the members of this great hockey squad will be very happy to hear, based on their vote and my vote, and in this case, my vote was more important,” he went on. “That I will soon be presenting Connor with our highest civilian honor, which we will be giving, and which has been given to many athletes over the years… It’s called the highest civilian honor in our country, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.”

Earlier in the week, Trump‘s invite to the men’s hockey team drew much backlash online as he referenced the women’s team, and how he “would be impeached” if he didn’t also invite them.

For the second year in a row, Rep. Al Green has been escorted out of the House chamber while President Donald Trump addresses Congress.

Trump is giving his State of the Union address at Capitol Hill on Tuesday (February 24). The congressman could be seen unfurling and then holding up a sign reading “Black People Aren’t Apes.”

The statement appears to be referencing the racist video Trump shared to Truth Social earlier this month that depicted former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as apes.

According to AP News, the House Sergeant at Arms escorted Green from the chamber only a few minutes into the address. The outlet says a few Republicans had begun to chant “USA” before his exit.

In March of last year, Green was removed for heckling the president during a speech to Congress.

He included the email that was written to the rep for the Women’s Team, which stated, in part: “We saw the story about the men’s invite to the White House, and the not quite invite for the women’s team. Flay recently posted on social media an idea and invite for the women’s hockey team to Las Vegas for a real celebration. He always stands behind everything he says and does. If there is an interest for the team to come to Las Vegas and celebrate with Flay – we will figure it out on our end and make it a lovely experience. One of the members of the Men’s hockey team is also now speaking out about the viral situation.

There are a number of elected officials who are choosing to boycott Donald Trump‘s State of the Union speech tonight (February 24).

The 79-year-old POTUS will speak to the nation in the annual address at 9pm ET this evening, and it will air on all of the major networks. He is expected to speak on a myriad of topics that impact the American people. This is a normal occurrence for the President to deliver this speech to the public.

However, many Democrats have announced plans to boycott and will instead, be attending alternate events.

So far, we know of two events that are happening around the same time as the SOTU. One event that is drawing the attention of some Senators and Representatives is an event dubbed the People’s State of the Union Event. Another event is called the State of the Swamp.

Jack Hughes, who scored the game-winning goal for Team USA men’s hockey’s Olympic gold medal run on Sunday (February 22) is now speaking out about that phone call from Donald Trump.

If you did not see, the 79-year-old POTUS received backlash for his comment about the women’s team in a phone call to the men’s team after their gold medal match.

While inviting the men to the State of the Union, he said, “I must tell you, we’re going to have to bring the women’s team. You do know that,” as men’s hockey team members laughed. He then said, “I do believe I’d probably would be impeached [if the women’s team wasn’t invited].”

About the women’s team declining Trump‘s invite to the State of the Union, Jack told Daily Mail, “They’ve got busy schedules, too. Everyone is giving us backlash for all the social media stuff today.”

“People are so negative out there and they are just trying to find a reason to put people down and make something out of almost nothing,” he continued. “Our relationship with them, over the course of being in the Athletes’ Village, I think we are so tight with their group. After we won the gold medal we were in the cafeteria at 3:30am in the morning with them and we go from there, pack our bags and we’re on the bus.”

He continued, “People are so negative about things. I think everyone in that locker room knows how much we support them, how proud we are of them and we know the same way we feel about them, they feel about us.”

Jack then confirmed that they are heading to Washington, DC to watch the State of the Union tonight (February 24).

“Yeah, we’re excited. Everything is so political. We’re athletes,” he continued. “We’re so proud to represent the US and when you get the chance to go to White House and meet the president, we’re proud to be Americans and that’s so patriotic. No matter what your views are we’re super excited to go to the White House tomorrow and be a part of that.”

Insiders have told CNN, CBS News and Axios that the president has discussed taking action against Iran.

The outlets stated that nothing was determined yet. However, the Department of Defense could reportedly set things in motion as soon as this weekend, per CNN and CBS.

CBS reported that Trump “has not yet made a final decision,” citing multiple national security officials who maintained anonymity.

While the military could be ready this weekend, the outlet reported that “the timeline for any action is likely to extend beyond” then.

An insider told CNN that Trump “has privately argued both for and against military action,” saying that he has also “polled advisers and allies on what the best course of action is.”

One ally that could reportedly join forces with the U.S. is Israel, according to reporting by Axios. While insiders told the outlet that Israeli leaders are “preparing for a scenario of war within days,” U.S. forces are not moving as quickly.

The latest reports come after U.S. officials met with Iranian negotiators in Geneva, Switzerland for talks on Tuesday (February 17). CNN reported that the talks were “indirect,” saying that officials “passed notes for three-and-a-half hours.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed the talks during a press briefing the following day, saying that Iran and the U.S. are “still very far apart on some issues,” per CBS.

“I believe the Iranians are expected to come back to us with some more detail in the next couple of weeks, and so the president will continue to watch how this plays out,” she continued.

Leavitt opined, “Iran would be very wise to make a deal with President Trump and with his administration,” also saying that there were “many reasons and arguments that one could make for a strike against Iran.”

However, she said that the president would prefer to pursue diplomacy. The press secretary did not address rumors of a partnership with Israel, per CBS.

Both CBS and CNN reported that a briefing on the matter also took place in the Situation Room on Wednesday (February 18).

Each outlet reported that the U.S. has sent military force into the region, though this does not mean that a strike is imminent. CBS reported that “all military forces deployed to the region are expected to be in place by mid-March.”

Axios reported that any action in the area would entail “a massive, weeks-long campaign,” stating that it would more closely resemble “full-fledged war” over what took place in Venezuela earlier this year.

The outlet reported that Trump‘s hardline stance sets a scene where he is unlikely to “back down without major concessions from Iran on its nuclear program.”

An insider seemingly agreed, telling Axios, “The boss is getting fed up. Some people around him warn him against going to war with Iran, but I think there is 90% chance we see kinetic action in the next few weeks.”

The Department of Defense did not comment on the matter when questioned by CBS. Just Jared reached out, but has not heard back at the time of publication.

Don Lemon is back in court two weeks after his arrest.

Last month, the 59-year-old journalist was arrested and taken into custody following his coverage of a protest at a church in Minneapolis, Michigan. Don and his producer were reporting on a protest at St. Paul Church on January 18, where it was believed one of the pastors was an ICE official.

He was subsequently released without bail.

On Friday (February 13), Don, along with husband Tim Malone and his lawyers, attended his arraignment hearing at the Warren E. Burger Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse in St. Paul, Minn.

During the brief hearing, Magistrate Judge Douglas L. Micko reminded Don of his constitutional rights and asked if he understood the charges against him. The former CNN anchor responded that he understood, before the judge said that he was free to travel, unless he were to violate any state or federal laws.

A prosecutor revealed during the hearing that authorities seized Don‘s phone during the arrest and have obtained a search warrant.

Don‘s lawyer Abbe Lowell argued that taking the phone was a possible “over-execution.” Lowell also said that the defense intends on filming a motion to get access to the grand jury transcripts, which led to the indictment. Don‘s lawyer indicated that a motion to declare the case unconstitutional is forthcoming as well.

During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Don shared more details about what happened on the night of his arrest.

Donald Trump revealed the fate of the staffer who was accused of posting a since-deleted video featuring the Obamas, which many deemed racist.

On February 5, the 79-year-old president shared a video featuring unsubstantiated claims about voter fraud on his social media platform, Truth Social.

The clip featured former President Barack and former first lady Michelle Obama‘s faces superimposed over apes, igniting calls that the Republican was enforcing racist stereotypes.

While the White House first defended the video, it was deleted. An official shifted the blame to a staffer, saying that they “erroneously made the post.”

During a White House event on Thursday (February 12), Trump was asked if the staffer had been disciplined.

Responding to a reporter who asked if he had taken disciplinary action, Trump said, “No, I haven’t,” via ABC News.

He continued, defending the decision.

“That was a video on, as you know, voter fraud… and [a] fairly long video. And they had a little piece and had to do with The Lion King. It’s been very well… It’s been shown all over the place. Long before that was posted,” the president alleged.

Trump concluded, “And that was a very strong… And I’m sure you saw it, very strong piece on voter fraud. And the piece that you’re talking about is all over the place, many times, I believe for years.”

At no point has the staffer been mentioned by name.

The president previously said that he disavows racism but insisted that he didn’t need to apologize in this instance, telling reporters that he “didn’t make a mistake.”

The Obamas did not directly respond to the video. However, a social media post they shared sparked an intense reaction online in the aftermath.

The Department of Homeland Security is ending its controversial immigration operation in Minnesota.

White House border czar Tom Homan confirmed in a Thursday (February 12) press conference that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would be ending their “surge operation,” which started on December 1, 2025 and was particularly focused on Minneapolis.

While speaking to the press, Homan claimed that the operation had achieved the “successful results that we came here for,” adding that the decision had been made with the support of President Donald Trump.

“As a result of this surge operation, we have greatly reduced the number of targets for enforcement action. And many criminal aliens have been arrested and taken off the streets, including murderers, sex offenders, national security threats, gang members and other violent criminals,” he said.

Homan added that “Minnesota is now less of a sanctuary state for criminals,” via PBS.

“I have proposed and President Trump has concurred, that this surge operation conclude,” he said.

The operation in Minnesota was heavily criticized by citizens across the country, with a national protest taking place on January 30 with the goal of demanding that ICE cease operations in major cities across the country.

Despite claims that ICE was targeting only violent criminals, many arrests have been called into question, including the detention of 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos, who was released alongside his father on February 1.

Video footage of an elderly man being taken out of his home and detained wearing nothing but his underwear and a blanket also went viral.

ICE agents also fatally shot American citizens Renee Good and Alex Pretti, furthering calls for the operation to end.

Addressing the shootings during a January 20 press conference, Trump said that the agency would “make mistakes” and “be too rough” sometimes.

“They’re gonna make mistakes sometimes,” he said, describing Good‘s death as “a tragedy.”

Continuing, the president added, “ICE is gonna be too rough with somebody. Or, you know, they’re dealing with rough people. They’re gonna make a mistake sometimes. It can happen.”

Donald Trump‘s relationship and knowledge of late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein‘s crimes is being called into question.

A former police chief claimed that the 79-year-old President of the United States called him to thank him for investigating Jeffrey‘s crimes all the way back in 2006, per newly resurfaced documents.

Details of the alleged phone call are included in an FBI account of an interview with an ex-police chief back in 2019, featured in the DOJ’s released Epstein Files, per the Miami Herald.

Trump reportedly called then-Palm Beach police chief Michael Reiter and said: “Thank goodness you’re stopping him, everyone has known he’s been doing this,” per a 2019 FBI interview with the former policeman.

The policeman also said Trump revealed that Ghislaine Maxwell, was Epstein’s “operative.”

He told the officer “she is evil and to focus on her,” per the report.

Back in 2019, Trump said he had “no idea” of Epstein‘s crimes.

An FBI official denied that Trump called the former police chief.

“We are not aware of any corroborating evidence that the President contacted law enforcement 20 years ago,” the official said, per the Miami Herald.

At the same time, Trump is bizarrely taking aim at Canada.

Opening his post, Trump focused on the fact that the country is currently “building a massive bridge between Ontario and Michigan.”

“They own both the Canada and the United States side and, of course, built it with virtually no U.S. content,” the president said, blaming “President Barack Hussein Obama” for making it possible.

He continued, writing, “Now, the Canadian Government expects me, as President of the United States, to PERMIT them to just ‘take advantage of America!’ What does the United States of America get — Absolutely NOTHING!”

“I will not allow this bridge to open until the United States is fully compensated for everything we have given them, and also, importantly, Canada treats the United States with the Fairness and Respect that we deserve. We will start negotiations, IMMEDIATELY. With all that we have given them, we should own, perhaps, at least one half of this asset. The revenues generated because of the U.S. Market will be astronomical,” he wrote.

Elsewhere in the lengthy post, Trump addressed Prime Minister Carney having negotiations with China, saying that the foreign country “will eat Canada alive.”

His post included a bizarre threat about Canada’s biggest sport hockey, saying, “The first thing China will do is terminate ALL Ice Hockey being played in Canada, and permanently eliminate The Stanley Cup.”

It’s unclear why the president made this allegation.

The latest post comes just a few days after the politician shared a racist video depicting the Obamas and then insisted that he didn’t need to apologize.

While in Italy for the 2026 Winter Olympics, the 27-year-old freestyle skier addressed what is politically going on in America.

Jeffrey Epstein expressed concerns about Donald Trump‘s health in a newly released email from the Epstein files.

In an email dated December 29, 2017, the convicted sex offender wrote to Michael Wolff, a journalist who has written extensively about the 79-year-old president.

Epstein said that some mutual friends he shared with Trump were “concerned” that he might have dementia after they got together for dinner.

A response from Wolff was not included in the file. However, the Epstein files database contains over 5,000 files that reference the journalist.

This is not the first time that Epstein has expressed concerns about Trump‘s wellness in written communications that have been included in the Epstein files.

In November 2025, a cache of documents released by the House Oversight Committee included an exchange with a reporter, who described the president as “looking/sounding increasingly unhinged.”

Epstein seemingly agreed, writing, “no questions donalds statement is goofy.. early dementia?”

Other messages released at the time showed Epstein describing Trump as “borderline insane.”

“You see, I know how dirty Donald is,” Epstein emailed former White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler in 2018 in yet another correspondence.

The depth of Trump‘s connection to Epstein has been called into question over the years.

The president name has been referenced thousands of times in the trove of documents released from the Epstein files thus far. However, Trump has not been accused of any wrongdoing and has denied any association with Epstein‘s alleged criminal behavior.

Vice President JD Vance recently defended Trump, saying that he and Epstein were not friendly.

However, analysis conducted by The New York Times suggests that the president and Epstein were friendly before having a falling out of unknown origins.

In a statement provided to NYT by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, it was alleged that the president “kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago for being a creep.”
