Nancy Meyers is coming back with a new movie!

More than a decade after her last movie, on Monday (February 2), it was announced that the 76-year-old beloved filmmaker will be returning with brand new movie that features a star-studded cast.

Keep reading to find out more…Currently scheduled to be released on December 25, 2027, Jude Law, Penelope Cruz, Kieran Culkinn Culkin, Emma Mackey, and Owen Wilson are in final talks to star in “Untitled Nancy Meyers Film,” according to Variety.

While plot details about being kept under wraps, it has been reported that the movie “is a version of Paris Paramount, the project Meyers set up at Netflix in Spring 2023.”

Paris Paramount “centered on an above-the-line filmmaking duo who reunite on set after falling in and out of love with one another.”

Netflix pulled the plug on the project in 2023 due to reported budget issues.

The project marks Nancy‘s return to the director’s chair since helming the 2015 movie The Intern, which starred Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro.

This new movie will be released through Warner Bros. Pictures.

Ella McCay currently has a 22% Rotten score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Wall Street Journal says: “Ella McCay is not quotable. It is not believable. It is not likable. It’s not even digestible. For an ordinary filmmaker, it would be merely a disaster. For James L. Brooks, it’s more like a tragedy.”

The New York Times says: “Ella McCay is a bizarre movie that would have worked better if it went all-in as an homage to another era. Since we won’t get to see that version, you’ll just have to buckle up and enjoy the very strange ride.”

The Associated Press gave it 1 out of 4, and says: “It’s hard to understand how Ella McCay, the first original feature from writer-director Brooks in 15 years, goes so utterly haywire. Is this really the same mind that wrote the memorable Broadcast News? Terms of Endearment? As Good As It Gets?”

The Daily Beast says: “Its phoniness epitomized by Emma Mackey’s lead turn, it’s the biggest dud of the artist’s career, and the holiday season’s most egregious misfire.”

IndieWire gives it a B, writing: “Watching Ella McCay can sometimes feel like time travel, particularly for those vested in bygone eras of American filmmaking, but if you’re capable of tuning into its wavelength, an old but worthwhile spirit can be found.”

Variety says: “Everything about Ella McCay feels outdated…there’s a clunkiness here that suggests test screenings or studio notes cost the movie key exposition (establishing why Ryan’s a liability, for example, or explaining the cringey dynamic between Ella and her driver).”

The New York Post gave it 1 out of 4, writing: “This sloppy slog is terrible; short, but interminable.”

The Guardian gave it 2 out of 5, writing: “Ella McCay is, first and foremost, a mess — a clunky collection of incoherent characters and confounding plot that seem to defy basic story logic at every turn, and not in a surprising or intriguing way.”

The 29-year-old actress had the support of boyfriend Martin Aleman at the world premiere of her new movie Ella McCay on Tuesday (December 9) held at El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, Calif.

If you didn’t know, Emma and Martin made their public debut at the 2023 BAFTAs when they shared a kiss as she stood to accept the Rising Star Award. They were last seen together at the 2025 LIDO Festival in London back in June.

The 29-year-old Sex Education actress and boyfriend Martin Aleman wrapped their arms around each other as they walked around the 2025 LIDO Festival on Saturday night (June 7) in London, England.

Emma was seen wearing an all black outfit while the director and photographer wore a purple hoodie and jeans as they watched Massive Attack perform on stage.

If you didn’t know, Emma and Martin made their public debut at the 2023 BAFTAs when they shared a kiss as she stood to accept the Rising Star Award.

The movie Alpha seems like it’s going to be one of the most-talked about films to come out of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival this year!

Stars Emma Mackey and Tahar Rahim were among those who walked the red carpet at the event on Monday night (May 19) in Cannes, France.

They were joined by director Julia Ducournau, who previously won the Palme d’Or for Titane, and co-stars Melissa Boros, Golshifteh Farahani, Finnegan Oldfield, and Louai El Amrousy.

Alpha is about a troubled 13-year-old girl who lives alone with her mother. Their world comes crashing down the day she comes home from school with a tattoo on her arm.

Variety reports that in the middle of the premiere, there was an interruption in the balcony of the auditorium and audience members began shouting for a doctor and waving their phone flashlights. The movie was not paused and paramedics arrived to carry an audience member out on a stretcher.

Despite the interruption, Alpha has received one of the biggest ovations during the festival so far. Media outlets are reporting that the film got a standing ovation that lasted between 11 and 12 minutes.

The 29-year-old actress will reunite with her Barbie director Greta Gerwig for the latest adaptation, according to THR, which is said to be centering around the sixth book in the series.

Per THR, the White Witch, “whose name is Jadis, is the primary antagonist of not just Magician’s Nephew but also the best known of all the Narnia books, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. She is the one who plunged Narnia into an endless winter (where it never ever gets to Christmas) and turns her enemies into statues.”

This marks the first official casting of any character from the upcoming movie adaptation, though there have been many rumors and actors reportedly being eyed or offered roles.

At one point, Charli XCX was also rumored to be in talks for the White Witch character, but it reportedly came down to Emma and Margaret Qualley.

Meryl Streep has been named for a role, and Daniel Craig was also reportedly offered a role.

This year, the Met Gala will celebrate the Costume Institute’s exhibition titled “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” The official dress code is “The Garden of Time,” inspired by J.G. Ballard‘s short story written in the 1960s. Alongside Vogue‘s Anna Wintour, the celebrity co-chairs include Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth. There’s a running joke about how much Margot Robbie and Emma Mackey look a like, and it turns out, that’s exactly why she was cast in Barbie.

In a new interview with Buzzfeed, Margot opened up about their likeness and being mistaken for each other while out in their normal lives.

“I’ve been getting told for years that I look like the girl from Sex Education, who is Emma Mackey,” Margot shared in the interview, as she and Ryan Gosling played with puppies on the set. “She plays one of the Barbies in the movie pretty much because Greta [Gerwig] and I thought it would be funny. We were gonna do this whole joke about us looking similar.”

There was even a specific joke written in the script to poke fun at how much they get confused for each other. But it was never used.

“Once we got all dressed up as our Barbies, we were kind of like, ‘We don’t actually look that similar,’” Margot shared with the outlet. “Like, when she’s got her brown hair and I’ve got my blonde hair, we don’t look THAT similar, so we didn’t put that joke in the movie.”

Emma has opened up about how many people confuse her for Margot in the past.

“It’s just a joke in real life. I’m like, ‘We don’t look anything like each other,’” Emma said. “I don’t mind it. It’s Margot Robbie. Are you kidding me? She’s the best. I look up to her so much. I don’t mind the comparisons. But it would be nice to move past that.”

Margot doesn’t really mind it either, and is happy for fans to confuse them.

“When people come up and say, ‘I loved you in Sex Education,’ I just say, ‘Thank you. Thank you so much.’”

Netflix has confirmed that Sex Education is ending after season 4.

The streamer confirmed returning cast members, a teaser, and a premiere date.
