Jared Leto makes 40 NYC strangers his valentine

Alt-rocking actor Jared Leto charmed unsuspecting strangers in New York as a Valentine’s Day petal pusher.

The lead singer of the band 30 Seconds to Mars (and yes, sigh, he was in “My So-Called Life”) was in his Gramercy Park hotel room this weekend when a gift arrived: 40 white roses.

They were from “someone very sweet,” he says, but still: “What are you going to do with 40 roses in a hotel room?”

Leto carried the vase to the street and handed out buds, one by one, to passersby. “It’s funny to see people’s reaction,” he said, “just having a stranger come up and handing them roses.” We know Angela Chase would’ve swooned.

Leto recounted his funny Valentine yesterday at the Calvin Klein men’s show, in Klein’s 39th Street showroom, where the theme was “West Side Story.” Cooly-cool!
