Nemo (Jared Leto) a trente-cinq ans. Il m?ne une existence ordinaire aux c?t?s de sa femme, Elise (Sarah Polley) et de leurs trois enfants jusqu’au jour o? la r?alit? semble d?raper : des panneaux publicitaires lui adressent des messages personnels ; il croise des inconnus qui lui ressemblent ?trangement ; il d?couvre, derri?re les fa?ades en carton-p?te de la ville, une plage o? d’?normes blocs de mer sont assembl?s par des h?licopt?res. Nemo se r?veille. Il est au fond d’un lac, en train de se noyer, prisonnier de sa voiture. Il se r?veille encore, face ? un inconnu qui lui tire une balle en pleine poitrine. Il se r?veille encore, au bord de la piscine d’une splendide villa, avec une nouvelle femme et de nouveaux enfants qu’il ne reconna?t pas. Est-ce encore un r?ve ?
Nous sommes en 2092. Mars est devenue une destination de vacances ? la mode, et les avanc?es de la g?n?tique ont rendu les hommes immortels. ? cent vingt ans, le vieux Nerno est le dernier mortel sur Terre. Sa mort est proche. Les m?dias du monde entier s’emparent de l’?v?nement. Le vieux Nemo ne se souvient pas vraiment qui il est. Ce n’est que sous hypnose que des bribes de souvenirs incoh?rents lui reviennent.
Nerno a sept ans. Parfois il fait des r?ves pr?monitoires, mais il ne sait pas s’il doit croire. La vie r?serve ? Nemo un ?ventail infini de possibilit?s. Dans sa rue vivent trois petites filles : Anna, Elise et Jeanne. Laquelle choisir ? Tant qu’il n’a rien d?cid?, tout peut encore arriver. Mais quand ses parents se s?parent sur le quai d’une gare, Nemo est forc? de faire un choix. Le choix est impossible, et la vie de Nemo se divise en deux. Le petit gar?on se retrouve projet? dans une multitude d’avenirs possibles, dans un univers chaotique o? rien n’est d? au hasard mais o? rien n’est pr?visible. Un monde o? le futur est aussi impr?visible que le dessin form? par les volutes de fum?e d’une cigarette et dans lequel le battement d’ailes d’un papillon au Japon peut d?clencher des temp?tes ? l’autre bout du monde.
Deux vies de Nemo se d?roulent de part et d’autre de l’oc?an : la vie avec sa m?re, la vie avec son p?re. Les ann?es passent. ? seize ans, un Nemo vit en Angleterre o? il s’occupe de son p?re, devenu infirme. Il r?ve de la vie sur Mars. Il tombe amoureux d’Elise. Elle le rejette et il se tourne alors vers Jeanne. A l’autre bout du monde, en Am?rique du Nord, l’autre Nemo tombe amoureux d’Anna. C’est la fille de l’amant de sa m?re. Nemo et Anna s’aiment en secret, avec passion. Ils passent les nuits ensemble et Nemo regagne sa chambre en cachette au petit matin. Ce sont les ann?es de bonheur. Jusqu’au jour o? la m?re de Nemo et le p?re d’Anna se s?parent ? leur tour. D?chir?, Nemo attend le retour d’Anna. Il perd sa trac?. Il l’attend, des ann?es durant.

The present day, more or less. Nemo (Jared Leto) is 35, an ordinary man, married to Ehse (Sarah Polley). with three children. But life’s tuming strange : billfaoaids flash messages addressed only to hirfl; on th? streets, he passes strangers with his face; behind th? fa?ade of a half-constructed building, he sees helicopters lifting enormous blocks of th? oc?an… M?mo wakes to find himself trapped in his car, drowning. He wakes and is shot by an unknown assassin. He wakes again… by a swimmmg pool in th? grounds of an opulent mansion. With a newwife and new children.
It’s th? year 2092. Mars is the rmmber one holiday destination; science has rendered natural death obsolete. In hospital, as the world’s media and population look on. a 120-year-old man is dying. Nemo, th? last morttal on earth. Under hypnosis. fragments of his past begin to emerge. Nemo is 3. Occasionally, he dreams of th? future, and occasionally his dreams corne nue. In his home-town live three little girls, Anna, Elise and Jean. Life offers an infinite variety o? possibihties. and as long as Nemo does nothmg, anything can happen. But wtien his parents split up, he is forced to choose. ll’s impossible, and his life divides in two. The boy plunges headlong into a chaotic world, where nothing happens by chance, yet nothing ean be foreseen. A universe where the beating of a butterfly’s wings in Japan can cause storars on th? other side of th? globe.
So Nemo remains with his father, and d?parts with his inother. Years pass. In England, 16-year-old Nemo dreams of love, of disaster, of life on Mars.
He falls for Elise, and when she rejects him, pursues Jean. Halfway across th? world, the other Nemo falls m love with Anna, daughter of his mcther’s lover. The love of a lifetime. Their clandestine affair is joyous, their days and nights blissful, until his mother and her father part and Anna vanishes from Nemo’s life.

MONTREAL, June 19 /CNW Telbec/ – Christian Larouche and Christian Gagn? announce with pride their role as co-producer for Mr. Nobody, the latest film written and directed by Jaco Van Dormael (Toto le h?ros (Toto the Hero), Le Huiti?me jour (The Eighth Day)), and produced by Philippe Godea (Somebody Production). Filming began in Belgium on June 4, and will move to Montreal and the surrounding area – the Canadian segment of this production – for a total of 25 days running from September 8 to October 11. This English-language production will star Jared Leto (Requiem for a Dream), Sarah Polley (The Secret Life of Words, Away From Her (director)) as well as Canadian actors Clare Stone, Michael Riley and Emily Tilson. The movie will be filmed over a total of 120 days, in Belgium, Montreal and Germany.
Mr. Nobody tells the story of Nemo, the world’s oldest man. In 2092, Mars has become a trendy vacation destination and humans have now achieved immortality, thanks to advances in genetics. At the age of 120 years, an old man called Nemo – played by Jared Leto – is the last mortal left on Earth. His death is drawing near, and media from all over the world are eager to cover the event. Nemo doesn’t really remember who he is, and is only able, while under hypnosis, to recall a few snippets of disordered memories.
The team put together by French producer Philippe Godeau (Somebody Production) includes associate producers Daniel Marquet, Mark Gill, Alexandre Lippens and Genevi?ve Lemal (Scope), co-producers Jaco Van Dormael (Toto & Co Films – Belgium), Alfred Huermer & Marco Mehlitz (Mr Nobody Deutschland – Germany), Marco Mehlitz (Lago Film – Germany), Christian Larouche and Christian Gagn? (Christal Films Productions – Canada), and executive producer Jean-Yves Asselin.
Mr. Nobody will be distributed by Path? (France), Concorde (Germany), Belga Films (Belgium) and Christal Films (Canada). Wild Bunch will be responsible for international sales. The total budget for this production is 33 million euros.
